Teacher Workday Friday, January 3
On Dec. 3, the Board approved changing Jan. 3 to an unprotected teacher work day for all traditional calendar schools and a non-instructional day for students. This means that Winter break will be from Monday December 23 until Sunday, January 5. School will resume for students on Monday, January 6. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have questions or Review the updated calendar.
Congratulations to the Wiley Instructional Assistant of the year, Jutta Moore
Mrs. Moore has been chosen as our Wiley Instructional Assistant of the year by her peers. Ms. Moore is a first grade Instructional Assistant who has been at Wiley for many years in several capacities. Before her most recent role as first grade instructional assistant, she was a CCR Instructional Assistant. Every day, Ms. Moore strives to create a supportive and safe environment for all students, regardless of their abilities.
Thank you for your donations!

The Magnet Window is open for families transitioning to middle school
Fifth grade families can use this link to RSVP and receive a link to a Google meeting to learn about magnet options for rising fifth grade families.
- December 9, 6:30p
Magnet students who apply to their next-level pathway magnet school have the highest priority, after siblings, to be selected for that magnet school. For more information about magnet selection priorities, visit wcpss.net/priorities.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the application for Magnet schools will be open from October 14 through January 23. Applications are not first-come, first-served. Applicants who are selected for a magnet school to which they applied are automatically assigned to that school. Only apply to a school or schools you want to attend. Families are notified via email if they receive a seat at a school they requested. If you are selected, you will only be selected for one of the schools to which you applied.

Excused Absences for Religious/Educational Reasons
As you make plans for the school year, we ask that you submit requests for excused educational or religious absences well in advance. All requests should be submitted at least two to three weeks prior to the requested dates. According to policy, excused absences for educational reasons are authorized for educational experiences that are comparable to school academic experiences. The intent of the experience should be educational from the outset and an academic assignment (i.e. journal entry, reflection, presentation, images, project, etc.) will be required as verification of the educational experience. Family trips and vacations that were not designed, initially, to be educational will not be excused. The form linked here should be used to request the excused dates prior to the absence.
This year we want to share and shout out all the amazing things that Wiley teachers are doing for your students. If you have an amazing story to share or just want to tell a teacher how much you appreciate all they do, use this link: Comments will be shared with the teacher and the Wiley staff.

Cecilia Rawlins Fund
Help the Cecilia Rawlins Fund Provide Holiday Gift Cards to Those in Need
The Cecilia Rawlins Fund will be collecting donations at the Boylan Heights ArtWalk this Sunday, 12/8, noon-5pm. All funds collected will be used for Winter Break Gift Cards, purchased through the Walmart Charitable All In Basket Program. The CRF is hoping to raise $12,000 to support this initiative. Every dollar counts, with $20 moving us closer to our target and $200 funding a complete gift card for one student. The CRF has seen an increase in financial assistance requests for emergency housing, which strains our ability to fund programs like gift cards and other emergency funds for basic living needs. Please come out and visit our table at ArtWalk, say hello, and consider making a donation! Can't be there in person? Donations can also be made at rawlinsfund.org. Your generosity changes lives and ensures children at Wiley have the support they need, exactly when they need it most.
