Wiley Band
Wiley offers Beginning Band and Continuing Band through its PTA to students in grades 3-5. The bands meet twice a week before school on Wiley’s campus for rehearsal and perform in the school and community. This is a full instructional band program, preparing students to advance in middle school band. Wiley’s Band Director is the talented Lisa Burn. TEK offers quarterly clubs taught to students by our teachers. Below are the clubs offered in the Spring 2022:
STEAM Stories (Grades K-1, Taught by Sharon Abel) Are you bonkers for good books and love exploring the world of STEAM? Then this is the club for you! Each week, we will share some of our favorite books, teach important literacy skills and connect it all to a STEAM activity. We will read some exciting titles such as, How do you Build That, and have a building challenge, Dragons Love Tacos, and erupt our own volcanoes, Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, and explode elephant toothpaste! Come see how much fun books and STEAM can be!
Chess Mates (Grades K-5, Taught by Molly Strom and Mackenzie Dull)
Come learn all about the exciting game of chess! This playful clear-cut game encourages problem-solving and analytical skills, positive self-esteem, as well as verbal and memory reasoning. Join the chess club and become a critical thinker as you learn the skills to play this fun, thought-provoking game. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate, or an experienced chess player, you will have an amazing time all while sharpening your mind! Players will be grouped according to their level and instruction will be given for appropriate levels.
Lego Robotics (Grades 2-5, Taught by Quentin Murray and Challie Sullivan)
In Lego Robotics Club, students will focus on the fundamentals of engineering as they explore real-world problems, learn to design, and code and create unique solutions using FIRST LEGO League's award-winning program. Come experience this exciting new club!
