Last Day of School, Report Cards, and Summer Hours
We almost made it! The last day of school for students is Wednesday, June 12. Thank you all for an amazing year. It has been a pleasure to serve you and your family. Stay tuned for an even more amazing 24 -25 school year!
Report Cards will go home on the last day of school. If you are unable to pick up your report card and all other items on the last day of school items left behind will be available for pickup on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 to 4 pm. The building will also be open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3:30 pm for summer hours.
We are only a few positions away from being fully staffed and have once again increased our student enrollment for the upcoming school year. I look forward to seeing you again when we return in August. I am available by email, phone, and scheduled appointments during the summer months.
EOG State Test and Readministration!
Students in grades 3-5 have taken the EOG State Test. Should your child meet the criteria for our EOG Remediation and Readministration program you will receive an invitation for your child to attend the program. For your planning purposes, the program dates for the end of the school year are June 13th and 14th. Transportation will be provided, and breakfast and lunch will be available on a limited basis.
Students who passed an EOG-tested subject based on their report card grades but scored Not Proficient on the initial administratin of the EOG will be eligible to participate in readministration. This includes students who received level threes and fours on their report for Quarter 3. Attendance for eligible students is NOT required. EOG scores and the outcome of the readministered test do not impact retention or promotion. We do not use this score to determine promotion or retention. A team of teachers and staff determine promotion or retention based on relevant student data throughout the school year.
Registration is now open for Wiley Band 24-25, and will remain open through the start of band in September. Please register early to allow for planning and budgeting for the year. All 3rd-5th grade Wiley students are eligible to join the band. Band tuition donation is $515 for the year. Limited scholarships are available, and scholarship applications are due by the last day of school (6/12). To learn more, please visit https://www.wileypta.org/programs/band
Foundation’s “Big Check” now $9k Bigger
The Wiley Elementary Foundation will present our administration with a check for over $32,200 to supplement key areas of teacher and staff pay in 2024-2025. This updated contribution amount is $9,100 more than announced at International Night. Funds will supplement three areas: Friday electives, magnet program management, and now AIG (Academically or Intellectually Gifted program).
Working closely with Principal Avery this spring, the Foundation Board moved quickly to support our schoolwhen WCPSS applied a new funding formula that resulted in cutting Wiley’s AIG teacher staffing by 50%. This cut impacts not only AIG students and teachers, but may also impact homeroom teachers as they instruct a wider range of academic levels. While these additional funds don’t completely bridge the gap, they do add more time for our AIG teacher to spend with students.
Your contributions and support of programs such as the Legacy Bricks, the Spirit Rock, and the Wiley Way Soiree help fund critical resources needed to continue Wiley excellence. Thank you!
Lost and Found
Please check out the Lost and Found inventory. Everything in the Lost and Found inventory will be donated on the last day of school, June 12.
Get Involved Next School Year
Join one or more of our PTA committees for the upcoming school year! We need enthusiastic volunteers for various roles to support our students and community. Some roles are one and done and others are year long and can adapt to your schedule! If you're interested in joining a committee, please reach out to Marilyn at president@wileypta.org. Let's make next year extraordinary together!
WileyKin Playdates for Rising K and 1st Graders
Every summer, the Wiley PTA hosts WileyKin playdates, a series of informal playdates for rising kindergartners, rising 1st graders and their families. Meeting future classmates and their families in an informal atmosphere is an excellent way for kids and caregivers to ease their way into kindergarten or a new school! Our first WileyKin playdate will be held on Saturday, 6/22, at 10am at the Chavis Memorial Park 2-5 playground. Our second WileyKin playdate will be held on Saturday, 8/24, at 10am at the Wiley K-2 playground. Questions? Please contact Emily Kiser-Yellick at vp@wileypta.org.
Purchase 2024-2025 School Supplies Online
June 23 is the last day to order school supplies online! Wiley PTA has partnered with EPI to save you time in shopping for classroom supply kits. For each of your children, order one grade-level pack and one “All Languages/Electives Classes” pack and they will be delivered to your child’s classroom.
You can also order additional packs for students in need by adding extra packs to your cart and labeling them Donation Donation (first and last name).
To purchase, visit www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks and enter Wiley’s school ID: WIL772.
Garden Volunteers Needed
The PTA Sustainability Committee needs volunteers to help maintain the vegetable garden this summer. Sign up to weed, water, and harvest for a week (Monday-Sunday). No gardening experience needed, instructions and training will be provided before your chosen week.
