Last day of school before Winter Break is Wednesday, December 20
Winter break lasts from Thursday, December 21 until Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students will return to school on Wednesday 3, 2024. Be safe and enjoy your break!
This year for the holiday season Wiley will take action by collecting new and gently used winter wear for the greater community. This effort supports UN Goal #1 No Poverty and Goal #3 Good Health and Wellbeing as we provide support for those less fortunate and do our part to address the needs of those in our community. For the remainder of the month, Wiley will be collecting Winter Wear for a local shelter. This includes coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, toboggans and any other winter items. Items will be collected until Wednesday of next week.
5th-grade Families
Students in 5th grade who would like to continue in a magnet school at the next level MUST apply. Apply at wcpss.schoolmint.com. The deadline is January 25. Students may apply to any magnet school that is an option for their address (review at wcpss.net/eligible) Students with magnet status should be selected if they request their pathway school. See pathways at wcpss.net/pathways. Siblings rising into kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade MUST apply and will be assigned with an older sibling who will still be assigned to that magnet school for the 24-25 school year.
$10,000 Funding Gap in Wiley PTA Annual Fund
Wiley PTA is facing a critical situation with a $10,000 funding gap in our Annual Fund. Your support is vital to maintaining the programs and initiatives that enrich our school community. Supplies for classrooms, cultural arts workshops, events like International Night, and software are just a few of the priorities supported by PTA Annual Fund dollars.
Many companies offer corporate matching programs, doubling or tripling the impact of your contribution. Please check with your company’s HR to determine whether your donation can be matched. It is often a simple online process that takes only a few minutes of time and can have a tremendous impact.
Please consider making a contribution today to bridge this gap and ensure the continued success of Wiley PTA. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a significant impact.
Only a few days left to contribute to Wiley teacher and staff holiday gifts
It’s the people at Wiley that make this school special, and it’s the time of year when we show these people how much their dedication to our children means to us. You can do this by making a contribution to GiftCrowd, an online tool that makes it easy to send gifts to recipients with just a few clicks. Unlike other fundraising efforts, this is an opportunity to give directly to the amazing team of 72 teachers and staff at Wiley.
Contributions to GiftCrowd this year will be divided up equally among all Wiley teachers and staff to show our deep appreciation and support for everyone in our school - from your child’s homeroom teacher, to the bus driver, to the crossing guard, to the cafeteria staff, and many others who show up daily for our students.
Simply make a contribution to GiftCrowd by the last day of school before Winter Break, Wednesday, 12/20, at 8am. At that time, all gifts and greetings will be delivered to their recipients.
Thank you for your generosity, and let's make this holiday season unforgettable for our amazing Wiley teachers and staff!

MakoRx Care Connect works with local independent pharmacies to give you convenient, affordable rapid flu and strep test + treatment appointments all in one place, no health insurance needed. For each appointment completed through this link MakoRx donates $1 to the Wiley PTA. Your student's Monday folder will also have magnets with the link for when you need it! On your appointment date, go to the pharmacy, get your flu or strep test, complete a telehealth medical visit if needed and buy your medicine right there in the pharmacy! For other illnesses, speak with a doctor via phone or video. This program is run by Wiley parent Vinay Patel. Problems with the service or feedback? Contact Vinay at (855) 562-5679.

The CRF is encountering a significant gap between our current funds and the rising financial needs of Wiley families. In order to be able to provide support over the holiday break, we need your help. Compost now
Starting in January we will begin working with Compost Now to take action and decrease our waste. Waste reduction is a part of the UN Global Goals (#12 Responsible Consumption and Production). The PTA’s Sustainability Committee and administration are introducing composting to educate and strive towards these goals. The CompostNow bins will be here on Wednesday! Students are helping with signage. Stay tuned for more information.
Dreambox Usage
Students are expected to complete at least 5 lessons a week in Dreambox. A Harvard University study has shown that just 60-minutes of DreamBox lessons per week can fast-track your students up to two grade levels in a year.We recommend that students complete five or more lessons per week with DreamBox Learning because students who complete five lessons each week show more math growth than those who complete fewer lessons. One lesson takes about 15 minutes. Dreambox is adaptive and constantly responding to the skills and understanding of your child. Having your child complete at least one Dreambox lesson a week can help your child’s teacher better understand their need, extend their learning, and/or address learning gaps.
