Homecoming Ceremony  & Fall Festival

Saturday, October 21, 2023, 11-3 pm at Wiley!

Mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate Wiley’s 100-year anniversary while also enjoying time with family and friends at the Fall Festival! There will be food trucks and a bouncy house, as well as lots of fun crafts and activities for families to enjoy. Prior to the fall festival, we will be having our Homecoming ceremony. The ceremony will include stories from past, present, and future Wiley.

Last Call for Wiley Way Soirée Tickets

We expect over 170 guests at the Wiley Way Soirée and can’t wait to see you this Saturday, October 21, from 7-10 pm at Maywood Hall & Garden.

Can’t make it? Please consider donating a ticket for a teacher to attend for free at Wiley Elementary Foundation. Or buy something amazing at the Soirée online auction

The adults-only Wiley Way Soirée includes light dinner, dessert, adult drinks, dancing, and a DJ. And to boost the 1920s vibe, we've added casino-style games, lots of feathers, and a classic car for selfies! The Soirée benefits the Cecilia Rawlins Fund and the Wiley Elementary Foundation.

A Century of Wiley Memories

We would like to collect more than 100 stories to celebrate the years of memories that represent Wiley. If you or someone you know would like to share their story please share this link or add their story. Stories will be used by our students to create a Centennial project. The link can be found here: https://forms.gle/CZ9iJnTqKaaRCBXCA

October is Disability History & Awareness Month

This year's theme is “Breaking Barriers and Shaping Futures.” Schools have been encouraged to promote an understanding of Disability History through class discussions while celebrating students with disabilities.

Mascot Survey

Please complete the mascot survey if you would like to share your input on a Wiley Mascot. During the month of September, we will garner ideas from the community, using this form, before deciding and then voting on the top two or three choices. Once the top two or three choices have been decided we will vote and announce the winner at our  Homecoming/Fall Festival event in October.

Excused Absences for Religious/Educational Reasons

As you plan for the school year, we ask that you submit requests for excused educational or religious absences well in advance. All requests should be submitted at least two to three weeks before the requested dates. According to policy, excused absences for educational reasons are authorized for educational experiences that are comparable to school academic experiences.

The intent of the experience should be educational from the outset and an academic assignment (i.e. journal entry, reflection, presentation, images, project, etc.) will be required as verification of the educational experience.  Family trips and vacations that were not designed, initially, to be educational will not be excused. The form linked here should be used to request the excused dates before the absence.

Office Closed Daily 3:30 - 4:15

This year we will close our office for dismissal between 3:30 and 4:15. At this time, we will not be dismissing students from the office except in the event of emergencies. This is our busiest time of the day and we are completely committed to the safe and timely dismissal of all our students. We ask that if you know that you have to pick up a child for an appointment or special occasion you do so before this time or communicate the transportation change before 3:30. If your reason for early dismissal can wait we ask that you wait patiently in our carpool line as every minute of instruction matters. Fifteen minutes of missed instruction a day is more than an hour of missed instruction a week.  Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
