Kindergarten Orientation Monday, April 24 2:30

If you have a rising kindergartener registered or unregistered attending Wiley during the 23 -24 school year, please join us for our Annual Kindergarten Orientation on Monday, April 24 at 2:30 pm in our Learning Commons. This is a great time for parents and rising kindergartners to hear and see all the wonderful things that will make the Wiley kindergarten experience amazing! During this orientation, parents will be provided with need-to-know information regarding Wiley's kindergarten program and appropriate steps in preparing little ones for their first days of school. Parents will leave this orientation with a staggered entry and those frequently asked questions addressed. Rising Kindergartners do not have to be registered to attend, but attending parents must have a child attending Wiley kindergarten during the 23-24 school year.

Parent Survey April 10 -  May 12 - We are almost at 50%!

We need your feedback. We believe that helping students do their best in school requires a team effort and we need your feedback. Help us make your child’s school experience as positive and beneficial as possible by completing The WCPSS survey linked here: https://bit.ly/WCPSSFamilySurvey. The survey window is open from April 10 - May 12. We will use this information to address the needs of our community and allow you an opportunity to share your opinions.

Last year only approximately 30% of our families completed the survey and this year we would like to see close to a 100% completion rate. At 50% students will participate in a “Beach” day, at 75% have a school-wide Dance Party, and at 100% popsicles will be provided and Ms. Ware and I will dye our hair with a POP of color!

International Night

Thank you to everyone who made our International Night possible. It was a huge success! We appreciate your participation and attendance. The students and performances were brilliant and as always, the Wiley students and staff continue to amaze me with their intelligence and talent!

Congratulations to Yuko Yoshikawa

Yuko has been selected as the first Language teacher to move from 4 days a week to 5 days a week for the 23 - 24 school year. This was made possible by the Wiley Foundation which has worked tirelessly this year to acquire funding for Wiley’s magnet program. The language teacher chosen was required to submit an application, which was then up for review by a member of the Wiley Foundation and the administration team. The Wiley Foundation will continue to support the Languages and the Magnet theme at Wiley each year. If you are interested in continuing to grow and support our Magnet theme, please reach out to a member of our Wiley Foundation.

Karen Moorefield and Anna Joiner Week

This week we recognize our administrative team. Both, Mrs. Moorefield and Mrs. Joiner work behind the scenes to make sure our staff and students learn and work in a place that is safe and occupied with the items we need to maintain an enjoyable learning environment. This week if you get the chance, just say Thank you. They often make our lives at Wiley a little easier!

Cecilia Rawlins Fund

The Cecilia Rawlins Fund, named for a beloved former Wiley principal, serves the Wiley community by addressing hunger and other critical needs for Wiley students and families. CRF funds the Backpack Buddies program at Wiley, which ensures all students have food resources when not at school, currently supporting more than 50 Wiley students. We supplement that program with direct food assistance to families during winter and summer breaks. We also provide one-time financial assistance for families experiencing emergency needs such as housing, utilities, and transportation. Meeting all of these needs requires approximately $40,000 per year.

We rely on generous support from donors to achieve this mission. If you are able, please consider donating to CRF either as a one-time donation or as an ongoing, monthly 'sponsor.'  Donate here. We are a completely volunteer-run organization. If our mission speaks to you, and you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to the CRF Board at ceciliarawlinsfund@gmail.com.

Wiley Spring Book Fair

Online through April 30th

After a record-breaking week of sales, our on-site Spring Book Fair wrapped last Thursday!    Proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase new books for classrooms and the Wiley Media Center.   The PTA thanks all the volunteers, the kids and families who browsed and bought, and the teachers who keep the kids’ curiosity growing.   If there were any books that you missed, you can still purchase books online through Scholastic through April 30th!
