Pausing the Extended Learning Program through Fall Semester
Pausing the Extended Learning Program through Fall Semester |
Attention Summer Learning Families,
The Wake County Public School System will pause the Extended Learning Program (the Summer Learning program), effective at the end of the school day Friday, Sept. 24 and through the end of the fall semester. If you have a student in this program, this means that they will no longer attend the program beyond this date, but will be attending school on their normal schedule. You will be receiving more information regarding extended learning options for your child in the spring semester in the coming weeks. We decided to pause the program because we are experiencing a serious shortage of teachers, bus drivers and other staff members who are needed to teach and work during regular school days. In addition, in compliance with the Excellent Public Schools Act, WCPSS will continue to provide Read to Achieve camp for identified students in grades 1 through 3 beginning in March 2022. If you have concerns about your student’s learning, please know that your school will continue to provide instruction tailored to specific learning needs. Contact your student’s teacher or teachers if you have questions about how their learning needs will be addressed. If you have concerns about child care during trackouts, please refer to our Fall 2021 Triangle Camps, Track-Out, and More Directory. |
