Art Club

Art Club meets every Tuesday during STING time in room 303.  Art Club is open to 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in creating different kinds of artwork for the school.  We will start with decorations for dances, positive words of inspiration, and painting the school spirit rock.  We will also schedule field trips to area art museums.  For further information contact Mr. Marek (mmarek@wcpss.net) or stop by the art room (303).

Battle of the Books 

Battle of the Books – Battle of the Books is a competitive book club that is great for students who love reading and are competitive.  Any student is invited to participate in our readings and practice sessions, but only the top 10 readers will participate in the Countywide battle.  At each meeting, students learn new and fun things about books, both fiction and nonfiction. For additional information please contact Ms. Poppe at epoppe@wcpss.net. Dude Be Nice

Dude Be Nice is a club that meets every Thursday during STING time in the Media Center.  Depending on the project, the group may occasionally meet in the after-school hours.  This is a student-driven club with the purpose of creating and maintaining a culture of kindness within our school, throughout our school community, and stretching beyond that to the national/global level.  Students will collaborate as a group to creatively develop activities to promote a "pay-it-forward" mindset through random acts of kindness   All students are invited and encouraged to attend.  For additional information please contact Ms. Petersen at kpetersen@wcpss.net

The Holly Ridge Middle School Hornets Lacrosse Club is open to all HRMS boys. No prior playing experience is required.  The goal of this club is to give students with an interest in lacrosse an opportunity to share, explore and grow the game. Jazz Band

Jazz Band is an audition-based ensemble that rehearses once a week. We practice and perform Jazz Music from multiple different eras and artists including, but not limited to: Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, and many more! The Jazz Band meets Thursday mornings in the Band Room from 7:15 - 7:45.

Lego Robotics Team

The Lego Robotics team emphasizes core values while using critical thinking skills and imagination to build and code robots. The goal of the league is to use STEM skills to solve real world problems while building personal character. National Junior Honor Society

 
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Seventh graders are inducted in the spring. Students are invited to apply for membership based on all five tenets of the NJHS.  Students will serve during their 8th grade year and are required to complete volunteer hours for the good of the school and their community. Science Olympiad

Students who enjoy science and competition will want to participate in Science Olympiad. Yearbook

Yearbook meets every Monday and Wednesday during STING time in room 303.  Yearbook is open to 7th and 8th grade students currently enrolled in an art class or by special request from Mr. Marek.  In Yearbook, we will take pictures for various school activities and events and assemble the yearbook for the current school year.  We will also learn basic photography techniques to improve the quality of pictures for the yearbook.  For further information contact Mr. Marek (mmarek@wcpss.net) or stop by the art room (303).
