Book Club

Our first Meet will be Wednesday, 9/29 at 4:30p.m.

We plan to hold online Meets once per month (typically Wednesdays at 4:30) to discuss books and choose our next title. The club is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who enjoy reading.

Dance Ensemble

HRMS Dance Ensemble is an afterschool dance program that consist of intermediate and advanced students in the dance program who are seeking more training and performance opportunities. Ensemble students are chosen based on class observation. PEAKS 
(Personally Empowered Action Oriented Kids Serving Our Community)
 
The goal of this program is to improve reading and literacy skills, self-esteem, and self-empowerment through outdoor activities and community service.  The program is part of a grant and is targeted towards minority students and/or students interested in social justice movements.  The grant can support 30 members during the 2021/2022 school year.  For more information, contact  Marilyn Jesrani at mjesrani@wcpss.net

Chess club

The Chess club is open to all players- beginners through advanced levels.

Chess club runs on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month for 1 hour, from 3:15-4:15, in Mr. Preiss's room (411).  The first meeting this year is October 6th, 2021.

National Junior Honor Society

 
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Seventh graders are inducted in the spring. Students are invited to apply for membership based on all five tenets of the NJHS.  Students will serve during their 8th grade year and are required to complete volunteer hours for the good of the school and their community.
