Art Club

Art Club is open to 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in creating different kinds of artwork for the school.  We will start with decorations for dances, positive words of inspiration, and painting the school spirit rock.  We will also schedule field trips to area art museums.  For further information contact Mr. Marek (mmarek@wcpss.net) or stop by the art room (303).

Battle of the Books 

Battle of the Books – Battle of the Books is a competitive book club that is great for students who love reading and are competitive.  Any student is invited to participate in our readings and practice sessions, but only the top 10 readers will participate in the Countywide battle.  At each meeting, students learn new and fun things about books, both fiction and nonfiction. For additional information please contact Ms. Poppe at epoppe@wcpss.net

Gaming Club

The Gaming Club is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth graders with an interest in board games and table-top role-playing games. We meet twice a month, typically on alternate Wednesdays or Thursdays, after school from 3:15 - 4:15 P.M. in room 2417. Exact meeting dates will be shared in advance on the morning announcements and through the scrolling announcements on the school TVs. Students can bring their own games or join in on games that others have brought. No prior experience or knowledge is required. Hornets Lacrosse Club

The Holly Ridge Middle School Hornets Lacrosse Club is open to all HRMS boys. Jazz Band

Jazz Band is an audition-based ensemble that rehearses once a week. We practice and perform Jazz Music from multiple different eras and artists including, but not limited to: Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, and many more! The Jazz Band meets Thursday mornings in the Band Room from 7:15 - 7:45.

National Junior Honor Society

 
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Seventh graders are inducted in the spring. Students are invited to apply for membership based on all five tenets of the NJHS.  Students will serve during their 8th grade year and are required to complete volunteer hours for the good of the school and their community. Science Olympiad

Students who enjoy science and competition will want to participate in Science Olympiad.
