• YES Bulldog Blast - January 8, 2022

    Hello Bulldog Families!

What a busy week it has been at YES! Thank you for all of the support you provided this week be it due to inclement weather, illness, internet outages, transportation shifts, and getting back into the routine of work and school! We made it through the first week of 2022! Way to go!

Here is this week's Bulldog Blast for families:

Please be aware that schools may have some continued transportation needs as we move into next week. Messaging went out to all families of school bus riders on Friday after school. If your child's transportation needs change, please be sure to let your child's teacher and the main office know. This is also a great time to update your contact information in case we need to get in contact with you.

District messaging for next week in case you missed it:

    • Due to driver shortages, we encourage families to check the status of your child’s bus daily starting Monday morning 1/10/22 at www.wcpss.net/busupdate
    • In addition to checking the bus update page, families can also track your child’s bus using the Here Comes the Bus app.

As many of you know, significant bus driver absences, caused primarily by the impacts of COVID-19, have affected transportation services since the return from Winter Break. There were more than 150 bus driver absences Thursday and Friday. Even before these absences, our transportation department was operating with more than 100 driver vacancies. The combination of these factors has forced the cancellation of some bus routes in the past week.

We deeply regret the disruption this has caused to families. Our transportation staff will continue to do their very best to serve as many routes as possible even as they face this challenge.Due to the unpredictable nature of pandemics, and the increased infections caused by the Omicron variant, we do not know how much longer service will be disrupted. Families will receive updates about any important developments related to the status of our driver workforce as they become available. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Enjoy the weekend! Stay safe and healthy!

    Looking forward to next week!
