FYI: Co-Curricular Activities (Clubs and Organizations)

  • Wake County Public School System Families,

Membership and engagement in school clubs and organizations offer academic, leadership development, social and emotional benefits to students. As we offer these enriching activities, we must make the safety and health of our students and staff the top priority.

That is why we have offered guidance to schools to ensure that club and organizational meetings maintain health and safety guidelines during the pandemic.

    Guidance includes:

    • Club and organization advisors must follow social distancing guidelines when planning meetings.
    • Meeting agendas should have specific time limits to ensure social distance is maintained.
    • Face coverings must be worn at all times.
    • Details on social distancing and face coverings may be found in our Return to Campus guidelines.
    • Students registered for Virtual Academy may participate in their assigned school’s clubs and activities.
    • Students, teachers and volunteers who have not attended school but arrive for a club meeting must follow health screening guidelines.
    • Groups working together on projects or in practices will be limited to 25 people if inside school buildings and 50 if outside of school buildings.
    • Club and organization advisors have the option of hosting virtual meetings, but such meetings cannot be recorded.
    • Under our current in-person attendance plan, students may participate in competitions, performances and leadership events that are held virtually. No in-person events or field trips are currently allowed.

Please contact your child’s club or organization advisor or your school’s principal for more information.
