Funding Available for Families Impacted by Remote Learning

  • To help support families impacted by remote learning, Wake County Government has launched a new assistance program called WakeSUPPORTS. It can benefit local families in two ways:

WakeSUPPORTS provides funding to working parents, so they can afford to pay for their kindergartners through eighth graders to attend virtual school at a safe location with reliable oversight, or receive before and after school care; and

It pays for the fees that accompany subsidized childcare for families who meet specific income criteria.

Wake County Government will utilize $5 million in CARES Act funding to assist with expenses incurred during August, September and December of 2020. These funds will offer relief to families in Wake County who face the challenge of paying for childcare in this strained economic climate while trying to work to provide for their loved ones.

Applying for this program is easy for families in the community. They can simply fill out and submit our online form at wakegov.com/WakeSUPPORTS. The application is available in both in English and Spanish. Residents can also pick up an application in person at Wake County’s Swinburne, Northern Regional Center, Eastern Regional Center or Southern Regional Center. If someone wishes to obtain an application over the phone, they can do so by calling 919-212-7621 or they can email wakesupportschildcare@wakegov.com.
