Regional Program and Pre-K Update, Special Education Webinar and Device Distribution
Regional Program and Pre-K Students Will Not Return to School Buildings on Sept. 8
The target date of Sept. 8 for Special Education Regional Program and Pre-K students to return to school buildings was predicated on our ability to ensure sufficient staff, sufficient transportation service and sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) by that date. After assessing these three factors and soliciting feedback from staff members, we have determined we need more time to make sure all three of those dependencies can be met. Therefore, we no longer are targeting Sept. 8 as the date for regional programs or Pre-K students to return to school buildings. Those students will remain in the Plan B Transition phase along with all other students, and will receive online instruction during this time. As we develop phase-in plans, regional programs and Pre-K students and staff will be a part of these plans.
Special Education Webinar on Tuesday
We invite all parents of students who receive Special Education Services to watch a webinar regarding the upcoming school year on the WCPSS YouTube channel at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Topics covered will include: the opening of school in an online environment, implementation of IEPs and special education services. The video will be closed-captioned in English and Spanish. During the webinar, parents will be invited to share questions and feedback through an online form. Answers will be provided later in an FAQ.
Important: Student Device Distribution will begin Aug 17
Distribution of devices will begin on August 17 and continue until all students have their devices. For families that requested devices, you will receive an email from the district Technology Services Division (not your school) three days prior to when your devices will be ready for pick up. You will be able to pick up the devices on your assigned day or any day after.
