Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Crystal Blum
Crystal Blum earned a degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina in 1989. After several years working at GE in the Washington, D.C. area, she got her Master's in Teaching degree at Johns Hopkins University and began her teaching career in Maryland. In 1996 she moved back to North Carolina, where she has lived and taught ever since. Growing up, Mrs. Blum's two greatest desires were to become a teacher and to travel. She has been fortunate enough to visit England, France, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Germany, Luxembourg, Japan, Italy, Mexico, Canada, and various islands in the Carribean. Her passion for teaching and exploring other cultures is based on her belief that a quality education can reduce inequality in and among countries, which is Goal #10 from the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Outside of work, Mrs. Blum spends time with her husband, son, and 4 cats. She loves college basketball (Go Heels!) and reading. She is inspired by children's authors Mo Willems, Dr. Seuss, Patricia Polacco, and Eric Carle.
