Mrs. Janet Kehoe
Hi, I am Janet Brown Kehoe and I am excited to be the principal at Durant Road Elementary School and to be part of the DRES family. Here is a little bit more about me. I am a native of Fayetteville, NC and spent the majority of my adult life in Hope Mills, NC. Before coming to the Wake County Public School System in August of 2015, I served the students and families of Cumberland County Schools for 18 years. I started my teaching career as an Exceptional Children’s teacher and coach at Douglas Byrd High School. In 2006 I began my administrative career as the assistant principal at Cumberland Road Montessori School in Fayetteville. In May of 2010 I was honored to be named the CCS Elementary Assistant Principal of the year. In June of the same year I received my first principal appointment to William T. Brown Year-Round Elementary School in Spring Lake, NC. I remained there until June of 2013 when I was appointed to be the principal of South View Middle School in Hope Mills, NC.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Health/PE from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, a Master of Science degree in Industrial Technology from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and a Master of Science degree in School Administration from the University of NC at Pembroke in Pembroke, NC. After accepting the job at DRES I moved to Raleigh with my husband Ed and my son Michael. Michael is currently a senior at Leesville Road High School and my daughter Erin is a junior at NC State University.
I hold a strong growth mindset that all children can learn and grow, that instruction should be individualized and tailored to meet the individual student needs as much as possible, and that teachers should utilize a variety of teaching techniques including hands-on inquiry learning and integration of technology. I strongly support the values of Durant Road Elementary School to work together to embrace diversity and provide a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where all students and staff will reach their full potential. That our students will achieve personal success in their learning by being provided enriching educational opportunities that advance their unique talents and meet individual needs.
Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Jordache Artis
Hello Durant Eagles! I ventured to Raleigh in 2000 when I started my undergraduate career at Shaw University and graduated in May of 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education.
Upon graduating college I went on to teach 5th grade at Harris Creek Elementary School, where I worked for six and a half years. During which time I was the Student Council advisor and I was also a Mentor with the Helping Hands Mentoring program. It has always been my goal to become a teacher and one day work as a school administrator, so in 2009 I decided to go back to school to receive my Masters in School Administration at North Carolina State University and went on to graduate in May of 2011. During my graduate career I was fortunate enough to intern at Durant Elementary school where I met an amazing administration and staff. Little did I know that I would be fortunate enough to come back to such a great school as an Assistant Principal! I look forward to a very exciting and productive school year and getting to know all of the Durant Family as we work together to inspire our future generation to reach their full potential!
