Announcements for 11-30-15
It was wonderful to see all of our students today after the long Thanksgiving break. We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday and are now ready to get back to work. And speaking of hard work, parents please note that Interims will be coming home with your children this week. So please make sure that you are checking those book bags and taking a moment to review with your child their academic progress. Please also make sure that if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to your child's progress in class, that you are contacting their teacher. It is only with strong partnerships that we can make great progress.
Wakefield families, please make sure that if your child is staying after school for a program or club that you are picking your child up on time. We do not have supervision for your children after the stated times of the program and dismissal. Please also note for students involved in the "Jungle Book" production, that we do not have supervision for younger siblings nor can their older siblings watch them as they rehearse. Please make arrangements for younger siblings of performers to go home at their regular time and on their regular transportation.
PTA would also like to remind you that they are still accepting No Fuss Fundraiser donations. Fundraising efforts this year will be going towards updating your children's playground. Please help us out.
Also don't forget that our Yearbook just went on sale. Flyers went home last week. The cost is $20 and payment can be made via cash, check or by credit card at Balfour.com
As we get closer to our Winter Break in December, the number of events, programs and activities increase. Please make sure that you are checking our Google Calendar located on our website so that you do not miss anything during this busy time. Fourth grade parents, here is your reminder - tomorrow is a field trip.

Announcements for 11-20-15
I am doing our announcements for next week early due to only being in school for two days in recognition of Thanksgiving next week. Please remember that next Wednesday (Nov. 25th) is a Teacher Workday and students will not be in school. School will be closed for both students and staff Thursday, November 26th and 27th.
Wakefield Eagles, don't forget that next Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 23rd and 24th) auditions will be conducted for "Jungle Book". "Jungle Book" is a musical that will be directed by Wakefield High School students but is for elementary student performers 3rd-5th grade. Auditions will begin at 4 and end at 5:30 both days in our (Wakefield Elementary) gym. Students do not need to prepare any audition material. Please make sure your child has a ride home at 5:30 as there will not be any supervision for them after 5:30.
Carpool parents, please be aware that we have been finishing carpool at 4:00. Please make sure if you are waiting to get in line each day, that you are getting here by 4 as our supervision ends when the line ends.
We also wish to remind all of our families to please complete the PTA survey today. Today is the last day to participate in the National PTA survey. The information from this survey will help us serve you. You will find the link on our website and located in this script.

Announcements for 11-16-15
Wakefield families, remember that our Book Fair is still running this week until Friday. Do not miss your chance to purchase some good books to read.
Please also help us recognize our school pyschologist Ms. Sowa this week as we celebrate School Psychologist week. We appreciate all that she does and I know that you will join us in thanking her.
Carpool families, we want to remind our families to please do not drop off your child before 8:45 am in the morning. We do not open our doors until 8:45 and the children do not have any supervision prior to that time. Please also note that as its gets colder that students who are dropped off for extended lengths of time could suffer from exposure to weather.

Announcements for 11-9-15
Families, please do not forget that this Wednesday, Nov. 11th is a holiday. There will be no students or teachers at school that day in observance of the Veteran's Day holiday.
Please also remember that our Bookfair is happening this week! Your children will have an opportunity to attend the fair through their classes. Your family will also have an opportunity to attend on Thursday night, Nov.12th during our Family Fun Night. And speaking of our Family Fun Night, we will be opening our doors at 5:30 for families to visit our bookfair, our cup stacking competition, NC State STEM demonstrations, our own Science student labs, PTA meeting and food. We hope to see all of you there!
Wakefield families we would also like to encourage you to participate in our PTA No Fuss Fundraiser and help us raise funds for much needed improvements to our playground space.
And don't forget to complete our PTA survey so that we can determine how to better serve our families.

Wakefield Families don't forget that our Fall Bookfair begins next week. This is a wonderful opportunity to get some really cool books at a good price for your children. They also make great gifts for over the holidays.
We are excited to announce that we collected 324 lbs of candy for the troops! Way to go team! And an extra shout out to Ms. Coveleski's class for collecting the most and winning the pizza party!
Parents by now you should have already seen your child's report card. Please review it with your child and sign the envelope. We also encourage you to check off on the envelope if you would like a conference with your child's teacher.
