• Meet the Administrative Team

    Andrew Livengood, Principal

My name is Andrew Livengood and I am so proud to be your principal!  This is Pine Hollow's third year and we have gotten off to a great start establishing our climate and culture. We are fortunate to have great students, a supportive community and an amazing staff. 2018-19 is sure to be an amazing year!

This is my 24th year in education.  I earned a Bachelor of History degree from North Carolina State University and a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  (Don't worry, I'm a huge Wolfpack fan!) I taught middle school for four years and was a high school assistant principal for 8 1/2 years.  Most recently, I was the principal at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School for 8 years before coming to Pine Hollow.

My wife is the principal at Brier Creek Elementary School where our daughter, Leighton, is a fourth-grader and our son, Mason, is in first-grade. They are on Track 3 and absolutely love it. We have a dog, Reynolds, who spends most of his day sleeping and hoping someone drops something yummy on the floor!

I have enjoyed meeting many of our new Pine Hollow students and families and I look forward to working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders to build our school's identity and traditions.

Jo Ellen Newhouse, Assistant Principal - 8th Grade

I was born and raised in Raleigh and earned a bachelor's degree in English Education at UNC-Chapel Hill. I began teaching English at Cary High, where I met my husband.  As a teacher, I served on the Leadership Team and enjoyed being a cooperating teacher, class advisor, cheerleading coach, and (briefly) a choral director.  For eight years, my husband and I lived in Massachusetts, where I taught high school English and earned an M.Ed. from UMass-Boston as well as administrative licensure at Bridgewater State College.  Before coming to Pine Hollow, I taught English and served as an assistant principal at Leesville Road High.  My husband and I are the proud parents of a daughter who is currently a high school senior.  We share our home with six rescue pets.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, singing, and going to the beach.  I am excited to be working with 8th grade students and their families this year.

Starr Richey, Assistant Principal - 7th Grade

I am very passionate about the work I do with children and I take the charge to improve the quality of education to heart.  Not only am I passionate about student learning and success, but I feel proud to say that as I learn the talents of our teachers here PHMS, they share same passion and excitement as evidenced by their daily commitment to our children.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Education and Special Education concentrated in the area of Severe Emotional Disturbance.  As a North Carolina Principal Fellow, I received my Master's degree from NC A&T State University where I graduated with an overall GPA of 4.0.  While there, I was also awarded the Edward B. Fort Leadership Award as an aspiring leader.  I was one of two recipients out of a class of twenty students.  I started my career as a special education teacher in Ann Arbor, Mi.  I moved to North Carolina in 2006 and spent time working in Lexington, Durham, Guilford, and Harnett County schools in positions ranging from teacher, beginning teacher coordinator, to EC and Curriculum Facilitator, and the last few years have been spent as an assistant principal.  I have a wonderful husband and a five year old son who keeps me busy.  I enjoy spending quality time with family, taking mini vacations to new places, and dancing.  I’m looking forward to a great school year working with the 7th grade students .

    Expecting Great Things.

Bryan Tunstall, Assistant Principal - 6th Grade

Hello Pine Hollow Middle Schoolers and family!  I am excited to be joining the PHMS Family this year as the 6th Grade Assistant Principal.  I am originally from the area (Granville County) but moved to the coast for college.  I attended UNC Wilmington for my Bachelors in History as well as my teaching certification.  After teaching high school social studies, I went back for my Masters in School Administration.  For my first three years in administration I worked at South Brunswick Middle School and for the past two years I have been at Belville Elementary School.

In my spare time, I enjoy anything outside including hiking, swimming, running, and obstacle course racing.  I also enjoy spending time with my 7-year-old son who will be starting 2nd grade this year and keeps me very busy.  Any chance that I get to travel I take it; the world is too big to not go out and see it.
I am thrilled to return to the Triangle and begin my administrative path in Wake County at Pine Hollow Middle School.  I am looking forward to a great year!
