Meet the Administrative Team
Andrew Livengood, Principal
My name is Andrew Livengood and I am so proud to be your principal! This is Pine Hollow's second year and we have gotten off to a great start establishing our climate and culture. We are fortunate to have great students, a supportive community and an amazing staff. 2017-18 is sure to be an amazing year!
This is my 23rd year in education. I earned a Bachelor of History degree from North Carolina State University and a Master of School Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Don't worry, I'm a huge Wolfpack fan!) I taught middle school for four years and was a high school assistant principal for 8 1/2 years. Most recently, I was the principal at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School for 8 years before coming to Pine Hollow.
My wife is the principal at Brier Creek Elementary School where our daughter, Leighton, is a third-grader and our son, Mason, is in kindergarten. They are on Track 3 and absolutely love it. We have a dog, Reynolds, who spends most of his day sleeping and hoping someone drops something yummy on the floor!
I have enjoyed meeting many of our new Pine Hollow students and families and I look forward to working collaboratively with all of our stakeholders to build our school's identity and traditions.
Jo Ellen Newhouse, Assistant Principal
Jo Ellen Newhouse was born and raised in Raleigh. A graduate of Enloe High, she earned a bachelor's degree in English Education at UNC-Chapel Hill. She began teaching English at Cary High, where she met her husband, and also taught at Carroll Middle. As a teacher, Ms. Newhouse served on the Leadership Team and as a class advisor, cheerleading coach, and (briefly) choral director. For eight years, Ms. Newhouse and her husband lived in Massachusetts, where she taught high school English and earned an M.Ed. from UMass-Boston as well as administrative licensure at Bridgewater State College. Before coming to Pine Hollow, Ms. Newhouse taught English and served as an assistant principal at Leesville Road High. She and her husband have a daughter who currently attends LRHS. They share their home with six rescue pets, three dogs and three cats. In her spare time, Ms. Newhouse enjoys spending time with family and friends, singing, and going to the beach. She is excited to be working with Track 2 and 4 students and their families again this year.
Starr Richey, Assistant Principal
It is with great excitement that I start the upcoming 2017-2018 school year with you all. I am very passionate about the work I do with children and I take the charge to improve the quality of education to heart. Not only am I passionate about student learning and success, but I feel proud to say that as I learn the talents of our teachers here PHMS, they share same passion and excitement as evidenced by their daily commitment to our children.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Education and Special Education concentrated in the area of Severe Emotional Disturbance. As a North Carolina Principal Fellow, I received my Master's degree from NC A&T State University where I graduated with an overall GPA of 4.0. While there, I was also awarded the Edward B. Fort Leadership Award as an aspiring leader. I was one of two recipients out of a class of twenty students. I started my career as a special education teacher in Ann Arbor, Mi. I moved to North Carolina in 2006 and spent time working in Lexington, Durham, Guilford, and Harnett County schools in positions ranging from teacher, beginning teacher coordinator, to EC and Curriculum Facilitator, and the last few years have been spent as an assistant principal. I have a wonderful husband and a four year old son who keeps me busy. I enjoy spending quality time with family, taking mini vacations to new places, and dancing. I’m looking forward to a great school year working with the students of Tracks 1 and 3.
Expecting Great Things, Starr Richey
