We had a great time on Wednesday at our 3rd Annual Walk to School Event! All students were able to experience a walk to school from either the Smith Creek Soccer Center, Heritage Middle School Bus Drop Off, or walking from our carpool to our soccer field. We loved hearing our 5th graders sing the National Anthem, and we appreciated the Officers from the Wake Forest Police Department who joined us as well. Thank you to all of our teachers, parents and the PTA for your support of memorable activities like this for our students!
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Fest next Friday, October 18th from 5-7:00pm. This is a FREE event for families hosted by the HES PTA and is a fun evening for all!
Back Gate
It has come to our attention that the back gate is being opened in the morning prior to the start of carpool beginning at 7:55am. If you are an early arrival, please do not open the gate prior to this time. This is for the safety of all staff and students.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month
We are preparing for a month of activities at HES to help celebrate and bring awareness to our efforts around bullying prevention.
October 16 is Unity Day – wear orange to unite around kindness, support, and inclusion.
Disaster Relief Drive
The HES PTA is hosting a Disaster Relief Drive October 14th-18th. Information about items being collected can be found at the following link: https://bit.ly/HESrelief24. Students can drop off items at their classrooms, in carpool or during Fall Fest.

If you are in need of support for the holidays, please see the following information from a community resource. The application is due by October 12th (TOMORROW). https://bit.ly/toyjoy24
Kindergarten Enrollment, Magnet Applications, and Early College Applications
Enrollment will open for Kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year for students who will be 5 years old by August 31, 2025 on October 14th. If you have a rising Kindergartener, please begin the enrollment process by visiting our website at https://www.wcpss.net/domain/11634. If you have friends that live in our base, please encourage them to begin the process as well! If you have questions regarding this process, please contact our data manager, Mary Canny at mcanny@wcpss.net. Early enrollment will help us to begin to plan for next year!

Carpool Procedures - IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- Please drive SLOWLY and maintain a safe speed for the entirety of carpool.
- Please display your carpool tag each day in your mirror for the entire time you are in afternoon carpool. It must be the official HES carpool tag.
-
If you do not have a carpool tag, you will be asked to park in a parking spot in front of the school and go into the main office to check out your student. IDs will not be checked in the carpool line.
-
If you need a carpool tag, please stop by the main office to get one.
-
While in the carpool line, move forward until the car ahead of you stops. Students should exit the car from the driver’s side in order to avoid crossing traffic in the morning. In the afternoon, students will enter on the passenger side.
-
Please be sure to pull all the way up as far as you can in the carpool lane and do not pass other cars in the outside lane. Pull up to the next available marker.
-
During morning carpool, please pull all the way forward, do not stop at a preferred doorway, we need as many cars pulled forward as possible.
