The year ahead is sure to be filled with lots of learning, engaging activities, tons of smiles and fun too. We are lucky to spend each day with our students and we look forward to collaborating with you to ensure a successful year for ALL students. Thank you for trusting us with your child - it means the world to us!

Previous 5th Grade Families - we realize you may still be receiving these messages. You should stop receiving HES messages once our PowerSchool system reopens in the next few days. Thank you for your patience!

The First Day of School for Tracks 1 and 3 is on Monday, July 8th!

  • School hours are 7:55am - 2:55pm
  • School supply lists can be found HERE and on grade level websites
  • Be sure to complete the 1702 form and drop of any medication your child takes at school prior to the first day. Students may not transport their own medication.

First Week Morning Drop-off Procedures for Kindergarten Students

We are excited to welcome Track 1 and 3 Kindergarteners to school! Please be sure to have your student attend school on their assigned staggered entry day. If you plan to bring your child to school via carpool, you may park and walk them into the building during staggered entry.

All families must check-in at the front prior to walking their student to class. Please bring your photo ID with you in order to help make the visitor check-in process easier before you walk your child to their Kindergarten classroom.

Tea and Tissues is scheduled for Tracks 1 and 3 Kindergarten parents in the Media Center at 8:25am on Monday, July 15th. You may also walk your student into the building this day, but must first check-in at the main office.

Student Handbook

Please take some time to review the HES Student Handbook for 2024-2025.

Review of School Arrival and Departure Procedures

Bus Riders

  • Check your email for communication from WCPSS Transportation regarding bus routes and stop times.
  • Please arrive at the bus stop 15 minutes prior to the bus arrival time and allow 15 minutes past the scheduled time.
  • All Kindergarten and 1st grade students must be greeted at the bus stop each afternoon by an adult. If there is not an adult greeting them at the stop, the bus driver will bring them back to school and parents will need to pick them up at school.

Car Riders

  • Please drive SLOWLY and maintain a safe speed for the entirety of carpool.
  • Please display your carpool tag each day in your mirror for the entire time you are in afternoon carpool. It must be the official HES carpool tag.
  • If you do not have a carpool tag, you will be asked to park in a parking spot in front of the school and go into the main office to check out your student. IDs will not be checked in the carpool line.
  • If you need a carpool tag, please stop by the main office to get one.
  • While in the carpool line, move forward until the car ahead of you stops. Students should exit the car from the driver’s side in order to avoid crossing traffic in the morning. In the afternoon, students will enter on the passenger side.
  • Please be sure to pull all the way up as far as you can in the carpool lane and do not pass other cars in the outside lane. You should be pulling up to the next available marker.
  • During morning carpool, please pull all the way forward, do not stop at a preferred doorway, we need as many cars pulled forward at all times as possible.

Walkers

  • Please walk your student across the road from the greenway in the morning and to the cafeteria door. In the afternoon, pick up your student at the cafeteria doors.

Medication Drop Off

Please note that all prescription and over the counter medications need to have paperwork completed by your child's healthcare provider each school year. We ask that a parent drop off the paperwork and medication to the front office. If you have health related questions, please reach out to our school nurse, Dawn Knode via email at dknode@wcpss.net.

Apply for Free and Reduced Price School Meals

In order to receive free or reduced-price meals for this school year, families need to submit a meal benefits application. All families must complete a new application for the 2024-2025 school year in order to receive benefits. Please allow 10 business days for processing.

Please complete a 2024-2025 meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for extra funding. If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application and think your child may be eligible, please apply online or request a paper copy from the main office. Paper applications can also be requested by calling 919-588-3535 or 919-856-2920 or emailing cnsmealbenefits@wcpss.net.
