This is Ms. Cooper with a weekly update! I hope everyone had a pleasant weekend! Parents, please see important information below.

No School: School is closed on Tuesday, November 5 for election day.

Track 3: Track 3 students enjoy your track out!  Your return date is November 12.

Fall Picture Retake: Picture Retake day is Nov. 15th.  This is for students that were absent on the original date (9/3/24), those new to RMS, and those that will be retaking their pictures.  If your child will be retaking their pictures, they must bring back the original packet to give to the photographer.  You can find the pricing and payment information on the Website.   Students will not be able to take pictures if their name does not appear on the list from being absent on that day.    Picture forms can be picked up in the front office if needed.  

Atten”Dance”: We are having our first AttenDANCE at school on December 5th 2024 during elective times for all grade levels and tracks. All students are eligible to attend this dance if they meet the following criteria: NO UNEXCUSED DAYS FROM 11/12/24-12/3/24: A doctor’s note must be provided to excuse any days to avoid being marked unexcused. The dance will occur during the school day so transportation is not needed, nor will students miss their core classes.

We would like to have as many Rams as possible to participate in the AttenDANCE to celebrate perfect attendance FROM 11/12/24-12/3/24. Please encourage students to be present and on time. Students who are not eligible to attend the dance will go to their regular elective classes during that time.

National Homeless Youth Month: November is recognized as National Homeless Youth Month. We have thousands of families who are without stable housing in Wake County including some of your classmates, teachers, and school staff. We refer to families as living in transition because home may look different for each of us. During the 2023-2024 school year, Wake County identified 5,654 students in transition.

How can Rolesville help? Our school social worker Ms. Lincoln is able to connect with students and families to identify their needs including housing, food, clothing, and other barriers to help our students continue to be present in school. The McKinney-Vento Program was developed from the McKinney-Vento Act that was signed into law by President Reagan in 1987, this act protects the educational rights and youth who are living in transition. Some of the benefits of this program include:  immediate enrollment, free school meals, transportation, and the ability to continue attending their school or origin.

Attention 7^th Grade Parents: As part of the 7^th grade curriculum in Wake County, students are introduced to the signs of suicide (SOS).  This lesson teaches students how to recognize signs of depression and suicidal thoughts as well as what to do if they have concerns for themselves or a friend.  Ms. Hayes, the 7^th grade counselor, will be teaching this lesson on the following datesTrack 3-Nov. 15.  Track 4 dates are to be determined and will be shared in the weekly newsletter.

Please review the letter below and reach out to Ms. Hayes if you have questions or do not wish to have your student participate.  The form only needs to be returned if you do not wish to have your student participate.

Athletics: Our final games of the fall season are this week. Soccer plays at home on Monday against Wendell and on Wednesday against Zebulon. Volleyball is also at home against Zebulon on Wednesday and we wrap the season up with our final home Football game against Zebulon on Thursday. Pickup for soccer is games is 5:15, pickup for volleyball is 5:30 and pickup for football is 5:15pm this week. The football game begins at 3:45pm on Thursday.

Registration for basketball tryouts has begun, please see the RMS Athletics Website for more information. 

This Friday we will have our second Basketball Open Gym for RMS students from 3:30-5:00pm. Any students staying must turn in the Permission Form by the end of school on Thursday and must have a valid physical on file with Coach Robison.

No hay clases: la escuela está cerrada el martes 5 de noviembre por el día de las elecciones.

Repetición de fotografías de otoño: el día de repetición de fotografías es el 15 de noviembre. Atten”Dance”: Tendremos nuestro primer AttenDANCE en la escuela el 5 de diciembre de 2024 durante los horarios electivos para todos los niveles de grado y cursos. Todos los estudiantes son elegibles para asistir a este baile si cumplen con los siguientes criterios: NO HAY DÍAS INJUSTIFICADOS DEL 11/12/24 AL 12/3/24: Se debe proporcionar una nota del médico para justificar los días para evitar que se marque como injustificado. El baile se llevará a cabo durante el día escolar, por lo que no se necesita transporte, ni los estudiantes perderán sus clases principales.

Mes Nacional de los Jóvenes Sin Hogar: Noviembre es reconocido como el Mes Nacional de los Jóvenes Sin Hogar. En el condado de Wake, tenemos miles de familias que no tienen una vivienda estable, incluidos algunos de sus compañeros de clase, maestros y personal escolar. Nos referimos a las familias como familias que viven en transición porque el hogar puede verse diferente para cada uno de nosotros. Durante el año escolar 2023-2024, el condado de Wake identificó a 5654 estudiantes en transición.

Atletismo: Nuestros últimos partidos de la temporada de otoño son esta semana. El fútbol juega en casa el lunes contra Wendell y el miércoles contra Zebulon. El voleibol también juega en casa contra Zebulon el miércoles y terminamos la temporada con nuestro último partido de fútbol en casa contra Zebulon el jueves. La recogida para los partidos de fútbol es a las 5:15 p. m., la recogida para el voleibol es a las 5:30 p. m. y la recogida para el fútbol es a las 5:15 p. m. esta semana. El partido de fútbol comienza a las 3:45 p. m. el jueves.

Todos los estudiantes que se queden deben entregar el Formulario de permiso antes del final de la escuela el jueves y deben tener un examen físico válido en el archivo con el entrenador Robison.
