Return to Headlines

Dear Rams Families

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.  I am sending out an early Principal Message this week with some important updates and information.  Please read this in its entirety.  You’ll see, I have tried to simplify updated Return to School guidelines for positive cases or exposures.  Additionally, you will find information about student attendance at basketball games as well as report cards.

1. Isolation & Quarantine Updates/Guidelines: I know it's confusing when they change things, but it's important to understand these details for when students must go/stay home.  Most importantly, if a student who has symptoms of illness, regardless of vaccination status should get tested and isolate from others while waiting for a result.  If your student has symptoms, please do not send them to school until you have a negative test and are symptom-free.

Positive COVID-19 Test: Regardless of vaccination status, the student must stay home (ISOLATE) for 5 days, from the date symptoms began.  If the student is still showing symptoms after the 5th day, they should remain home until they are symptom free.

Exposure to someone who tested positive: There are multiple pathways to a student returning to school after an exposure:

A. Not vaccinated: Student must QUARANTINE for 5 days (can return on the 6th day) from last exposure and can return with a negative test.  The negative test must not be taken prior to the 5th day of the exposure (the day prior to returning to school).

B. Vaccinated and eligible for booster, but not boosted: Student must QUARANTINE for 5 days (can return on the 6th day) from last exposure and can return with a negative test.  The negative test must not be taken prior to the 5th day of the exposure (the day prior to returning to school).

C. Vaccinated and boosted or vaccinated and not eligible for booster: No quarantine required and may remain in school.

Exposures at school: Students who are not fully vaccinated after close contact in a classroom or other school setting: If masks were being worn appropriately and consistently by both the person with COVID-19 and the potentially exposed person do NOT need to quarantine.

Please note the focus on terminology used moving forward:

ISOLATE: refers to testing positive

QUARANTINE: refers to be exposed to someone who tested positive

If you have a positive case or an exposure, please email me directly so we can discuss a return date for your student.  I or one of our Assistant Principals will follow up with you regarding this.

2. Basketball Games: We have a home basketball game this Thursday.

Due to multiple issues that arose at our first home game we will be putting new requirements in placefor the remainder of our home games.  These include:

A. Students will be required to go home at dismissal however they normally go home.  They may return at 3:45 for the game, which begins at 4:00 pm.

B. Moving forward all students who attend the game must attend with an adult chaperone. Students are welcome to attend with a friend who has an adult chaperone, but an adult must be present and attend the game.

C. Face coverings must continue to be worn appropriately while inside the building.  Any person (student or adult) will be reminded one time about wearing their face covering appropriately. After that, the person will be asked to leave.

3. Report Cards: Track 1 and 3 report cards go home Friday

Sincerely,
