Dear Rams Families
I hope everyone has had a great week! The message this week is full of important information so please ready carefully!
1. Non-compliance with Face Coverings: Please see updated information in our Student / Parent Handbook regarding our response to students who are non-compliant with wearing their face covering. It is critical that students wear their face covering to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The updated guidance provided by the Governor yesterday only applies to high schools and WCPSS is currently reviewing that new guidance.
2. Track 4 Meet the Teacher: Meet the Teacher night for Track 4 students (all grades) will be next Thursday, July 29th from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. While you are here you will be able to pick up your child’s schedule, visit their classrooms and meet their teachers, sign up for parent Powerschool access, turn in any medicines your child takes (form 1702 must be included), and find out more information about bus transportation. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.
Track 4 VA Students: Your meet the teacher event will take place at the same time, but will be virtual. Our VA teachers will be emailing directly with the link for this event.
3. Parent Communication Survey: RMS is looking for parent and family input about our communication. Thank you to the families who have already completed the survey! The survey remains open and we are looking for more parents to provide their feedback.
Parents of 7th & 8th graders are asked to reflect on their experience last year and new parents joining us are still encouraged to share their thoughts about prior school experiences.

4. Registration for Fall Athletics: The link to register for tryouts for fall sports is now live. All information regarding athletics can be found on our Athleticspage on our school website. Trying out for sports is open to all 7th and 8th grade students. Students must register. Please note this must be done while they are logged into their Wake ID. In order to tryout students must also complete the Middle School Athletic Participation Form (on the athletics website) and return that to Coach Brennan. Students must also have a current physical on file at school. If you do not have a current physical, please schedule an appointment to have one completed and then have your child turn that into Coach Brennan.
5. Updated Absence Code: Please note that the language for an unexcused absence has been updated by the state this year. If your child has an unexcused absence, you will likely see the absence stated as, “Unlawful Absence”. Please know this simply means it is unexcused.
Additionally, please note that sending an absence note in does not mean it will be approved as excused. In order to do so, it must meet one of the specific reasons to be excused.
6. Please Join the PTA: The PTA would love your support by joining as a member. You can join the PTA by going here.
7. Final Opportunity for 2020-2021 Yearbooks: If any 7th or 8th Graders are still interested in purchasing a yearbook from last year, you can use THIS LINK to purchase one. These yearbooks are $30 dollars including shipping and they will be sent directly to your address. Any yearbooks must be purchased before August 1st.
8. Track 1 AIG Nominations: If you are interested in nominating your child for the AIG program or learning more about the program, please review this link for more information. If you have any questions about the AIG program, please reach out to our AIG teacher. Her name is Jenna Peterson (jpeterson2@wcpss.net) and she will be happy to assist you.
9. Missing Language Arts Novels: Families, we are still missing quite a few of our Language Arts novels. If your student still has any class novels or library books from last year, please return them to your ELA teacher or the media center at your earliest convenience. Thank you!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Thaddeus Sherman
