Dear Rams Families
It’s been another great week at RMS! We’ve completed our first full week of the 2021 – 2022 school year and students are doing a wonderful job! Please find important updates and information below.
1. Track 1 AIG Nominations: If you are interested in nominating your child for the AIG program or learning more about the program, please review this link for more information. If your child was previously identified as AIG in WCPSS, their AIG status remains unchanged. If you have any questions about the AIG program, please reach out to our AIG teacher. Her name is Jenna Peterson (jpeterson2@wcpss.net) and she will be happy to assist you.
2. Dress Code - Shorts: We are seeing some concerns with the length of shorts that are being worn. Please be sure you are checking on your child’s dress before they leave home or remind them about the appropriate length of their shorts. We will begin making students call home for a change of clothes if they continue to wear shorts that are too short.
3. BYOD Forms: Forms were sent home with students who do not have permission to use their personnel devices at school. If a form was not sent home, it means we already have it on file. Please make sure to return the completed forms as soon as possible. Students must have this form on file to use their device (personal or school-issued).
4. Student Issued Devices: The WCPSS studentChromebook distribution event at RMS has been a great success this week and will continue next week. The county is providing new Chromebooks tostudents who currently do not have a school issued device, and those students who currently have the oldest model Chromebook. Students who have a 300E Chromebook are not eligible for an upgradecurrently. All students who are eligible for a device, must return the agreement form sent home with students.
5. Track 4 Return to School Information: The first day of school for Track 4 is Monday, August 2nd. We are looking forward to welcoming our Track 4 students. You can find teacher information and supply lists on our website. There is a link at the top of the page. Students and parents will be able to meet their teacher and pick up their schedule on Thursday, July 29th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
Virtual Academy Students: If your child is on Track 4 VA, you should have heard from a teacher this week to welcome you to the newyear and provide additional important information. The back-to-school night for VA will be virtual only.
6. NJHS Application – Track 1 & 3: On Monday, National Junior Honor Society applications will be available to current 8th grade students on tracks 1 and 3. 8th grade teachers will provide access to the form in class. Interested students should complete the google form application by August 2nd. Students need to complete the application while logged into their WakeId. Students accepted into NJHS must have a 3.5 GPA, we will verify this based on last year’s final grades. The 8th grade Track 4 window for NJHS applications will open after they return and another message will be sent about it at that time.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Thaddeus Sherman
