Dear Rams Families

Can you feel the excitement?  We are just two short weeks away from the start of the 2021 – 2022 school year!  We are confident this is going to be a fresh start with great things to come!  There are several important items to know in anticipation of the start of the school year.  Please be sure to read these items closely.

1. Supply list and Team information: Supply list and team information has been posted.  You can find that information by going here.  Keep in mind that team websites will continue to be updated daily between now and the start of the year as teachers close out the current year and make final preparations for the new year.

2. Back-to-School Night: We will host our Back-to-School nights for the 2021 – 2022 school on the following dates and times:

6th Grade

Track 1 and 3

7th and 8th Grade

Track 1 and 3

6th – 8th Grade

Track 4

Tuesday, July 6th

Wednesday, July 7th

Thursday, July 29th

3:30 – 5:30 pm

3:30 – 5:30 pm

4:00 – 6:00 pm

At Back-to-School Night you will be able to pick up your child’s schedule, sign up for Powerschools, get assistance with bus transportation, turn in medicine, and have an opportunity to answer any general questions you may have.

We would ask that not everyone arrive right at the start time.  This will help us to ensure safety and social distancing, while also allowing students and parents an opportunity to meet teachers.  We also ask that you limit the number of visitors to the student and preferably 1 adult, but no more than 2 adults.  All visitors (regardless of vaccination status) on campus must also wear a face covering while in the building.

3. Student/Parent handbook: Our Student/Parent Handbook is now complete and we are happy to share this with you.  You can find it by going here.  It is important that you and your child review this closely prior to the first day of school.  It will answer many questions you have in anticipation of the start of the school year.  While you should read it in its entirety, I have highlighted a few sections that are especially important:

a. Cafeteria
b. Carpool Procedures
c. Cell Phones
d. Discipline/Behavior Expectations
e. Dress Code
f. Face Coverings
g. Grading/Homework Plan
h. Lockers
i. Mask Breaks
j. Physical Education (PE)

4. PE Uniforms: In a previous weekly message I explained that we would return to changing out for PE and provided a link to order PE uniforms. In a recent update, we have made the decision to pause on changing out for the first quarter.  To ensure safety and social distancing we feel that it is best to limit locker room use.  If you have already ordered a PE uniform that is okay because we anticipate returning to using locker rooms and changing out for PE beginning second quarter.

5. Bus Routes Posted: Bus routes for the coming year have been posted to our website.  Please keep an eye on this between now and the beginning of the year as some updates may still be made regarding specific stops, as well as arrival and drop off times. You can find the bus routes by going here.

Please also note that any request for alternate stops (joint custody and other scenarios) will not be reviewed for the first 30 days of the school year.  Alternate stops are not a school-based decision.  These are handled by the Transportation Department.

6. Signing up for Bus Transportation:   If your student will require transportation next year and you have not yet done so, you will need to go here to submit the request.  Once you have submitted a successful request you will receive an email notification with a case number.  Keep that information handy in case we need it at the beginning of the school year.  The form is case sensitive, do not include any dashes or blanks in the phone numbers or it will not be processed.  If you have questions, you can contact Mrs. Daeke in Student Services.

7. Returning ELA Novels: We are missing many of our ELA novels and need these returned ASAP so we are prepared for the coming year.   Titles we are especially in need of our: A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Inside Out and Back Again.  If you have these books or any other ELA novels we kindly ask that you bring them back to school. You may drop them in the bin outside the front entrance of the school anytime. Students may also bring them back and in turn them in on the first day of school.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Thaddeus Sherman
