Return to Headlines

October 20, 2020

Dear RMS Parents and Families,

It was so great to see so many of our students yesterday!  Be sure students are following our 1st quarter schedule, but attending their 2nd quarter elective.  This week, teachers will be discussing the 2nd quarter schedule with students in preparation for next Monday.

1. Virtual Academy: The window to update your decision about participating in Virtual Academy (VA) will open tomorrow, October 21st and will remain open through October 28th.

This registration window will allow:

Year-Long VA to return to in-person instruction for spring semester
Fall Only VA to continue in VA for the spring semester
Current Plan B students to register for VA for the spring semester

Please Note:

Students who are registered in VA for the entire year and who wish to remain registered for the spring semester do not need to take any action.

Students who are not currently registered in VA and who do not wish to register for the spring semester also do not need to take any action.

We recognize this is an important decision for you and your family.  As a reminder, VA provides the most consistency for your child.  The schedule, teachers, and overall structure remain the same in VA, regardless of the in-person plan type.  If we can answer any questions or assist you in making a decision, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Please know that the potential changes in VA participation could require us to make a variety of changes in second semester.  These could include changes in student schedules, the school schedule, and / or student’s teachers.  Our goal is to limit changes and we will make effort to do so.

The window for VA will open tomorrow.  You can click here for the VA Registration and scroll down to the section for “middle / high”.

2. 2nd Quarter Electives: We are unable to approve any elective changes for 2ndquarter.  As we return to school elective teachers are now balancing instruction for students in-person and for VA.  To do this, we had to shift which electives could be offered each period.

As a reminder, those who signed up for VA were informed at the beginning of the year that students would be enrolled in an elective but there was no guarantee of what elective it may be.

Sincerely,

Thaddeus Sherman

Principal
