Dear RMS Parents and Families,
Wow! What a first day of school! We were so happy to see so many of our students logged in and ready to go. We appreciate your patience and grace as we continue to navigate our way through a new way of teaching and learning. I’d like to share a few important things.
Reminders after Day 1:
1. Rams Roll Call: This is a form that students need to complete everyday when their teacher gives it to them. This is a record of daily attendance. Teachers will be documenting attendance by class period as well.
2. Elective Changes: We are currently not accepting any requests for elective changes. We will review this information for second quarter to determine if any changes need to be made at that time.
3. Student Schedules: Please have your child (and you) look at their schedule closely prior to tomorrow. You will notice that the schedule for Tuesday is different than it was today. Please be sure that students sign up for each of their Google Classrooms.
4. Class Times: It is very important that students pay attention to the class times for each class. The way Google Meet is set up it allows for students to enter a classroom early, but they may be entering a class that is just finishing up. Students should plan to “be in class” about 2 minutes prior to the scheduled time.
5. Behavior: There were a few instances of some inappropriate behavior in classes today. We have corrected any codes, which may have provided a student an opportunity to post information anonymously. Please remind students to use appropriate language while in class. Additionally, students should be focused on instruction. Some students seemed distracted by their phones. Administrators will begin following up with parents when students are not meeting the behavior expectations we have set for remote learning.
6. Need Help?: The quickest way to get assistance is by emailing your teacher. Teachers can assist with Wake ID, Google Classroom, and/or Google Meet information and codes. Don’t forget that you can also find a lot of information and a variety of resources at our “Remote Learning HQ” site. You can find the link for this at the top of our school website. At the top of our school website.
Sincerely,
Thaddeus Sherman
