Happy Friday Wakelon Families!

This is Mrs. Nealy, your Wakelon Principal with our weekly updates!  We had an epic first week of school!  Our students and staff did an outstanding job returning to school.  This week was full of lots of engagements and learning opportunities.

To prepare you, my Weekly Principal Updates will be shared with you every Friday evening.   Please remember that there is no school on Monday, September 2 for the Labor Day holiday. We hope you all enjoy this holiday weekend, and please be safe!

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our kindergarten students to campus on Tuesday, September 3rd.  Parents, we know that this day may not be easy for you all, but we promise you, your child is in great hands with our amazing kindergarten teachers and Wakelon staff.

Carpool ran as expected for the first week of school.  It did get better each day!  Please remember to have your carpool tag visible in your car.  We must see the car tag number.  That is the number we call so that your student can report outside. If your tag is not visible, or you forgot it, you will be told to park your car and go inside to check your student out.  Please get multiple passes for all of your vehicles so that you always have a visible tag. Thank you for your cooperation!

Bus Transportation: Please remember that your child must ride the bus route that has been assigned to them. Students can not switch buses.

Walkers - Walking students must be escorted by a parent to and from school. If you are walking your child home after school, you must wait at the door to the far right of the front parking lot.  All walkers will be dismissed from there at 3:45. You must be there at 3:45. If not, you will have to go to the front desk to have your child signed out.  Our carpool staff will not be able to assist walking families as we are focusing on the safety of all kids who are waiting in the carpool.

Picture Day - Picture Day is approaching! Picture forms were sent home this week in your child’s folder. Each student will have their picture taken on September 10. The Fall pictures will be used for the yearbook.

Message from School Social Worker: A primary goal of Student Support Services is to assess the student's needs and connect their families to available community resources when needed. This survey contains some areas where we may be able to connect families to local resources. If your family needs one or more of these areas, please complete this survey. We will review these surveys upon receipt and if any resources are currently available, we will work to get you connected. Please keep in mind that our resources and support are limited, but we will try our best. https://forms.gle/EwaNee1vMRodywqQA
