Principal Grigg's Weekly Message 9/2/19

We look forward to seeing our full Bulldog Crew this week as kindergartners begin their first full week of school!

2018-19 EOG Scores and Release of School Ratings:  As many of you know, a new version of the EOG math assessment was given to students in grades 3-5.  Renorming of the new assessment delayed statewide communication of the results until this week.

We are pleased to announce that overall proficiency continues to increase in both reading and math.  In reading, our students either met or exceeded growth targets across all grade levels.  Renorming of the math EOG increased targets significantly. While our students scored comparably to last year,  English Learners and students with disabilities fell short of meeting expected growth under the new model. Unfortunately, this will likely impact our overall school rating.

We are implementing a 30 minute math acceleration period this year to ensure ALL learners are able to make expected growth.  During this time students will receive small group math instruction and have opportunities to engage in enrichment tasks.

Parents of students in grades 4 and 5 should have already received their child(ren)’s reading EOG scores in the mail.  Math scores will be sent out by the district office soon.
