Principal's Message - Week of January 27
Dear Bryan Road Elementary Families:
Teacher Workday
Monday, February 17th is a teacher workday. There will be no school for students.
Winter Wonderland
Join us on February 13th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm for this year’s winter family event. We’re excited to welcome Mathnasium, Christy’s DancExplosion, and Nicole Niwa’s robotic friend. Parents will have the opportunity for teacher conferences (please register with your student’s teacher) along with time to engage in make-and-take activities.
All Pro Dads
Mark your calendar for All Pro Dads on Thursday, January 30th at 8 am in the media center. Come WITH your child to play games, have discussions, and get to know other Bryan Road dads/guardians. Breakfast is provided.
Sweetheart Dance
The Bryan Road Elementary School PTA is happy to host this year’s Sweetheart Dance. All Third through Fifth Grade students are invited to celebrate on Thursday, December 6th from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm for a night of music, food, dancing and fun! Tickets are $8 (each ticket admits one student and one adult). Order your tickets today.
Sweetheart Dance and Valentine’s Dance Party Volunteers
Please consider supporting our upcoming holiday events for students. Our Sweetheart Dance committee is seeking volunteers to help on February 6th with set up, monitoring during the dance, and cleaning up. On February 7th, our Kindergarten through Second Grade students will enjoy a dance party during their Specials time. Board approved volunteers are needed to serve snacks and offer monitoring with our Specials teachers.

WCPSS Family Academy ESL Classes
The WCPSS Family Academy is offering two ESL classes for international parents and caregivers: Beginner and Intermediate levels. The Beginner class will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the Intermediate class will follow at 11:00 a.m. On the first day, January 11th, all students are expected to attend at 10:00 a.m. for a placement assessment to determine the appropriate class level.
Please note that we have a limited space, and for that reason WE ONLY HAVE A FEW SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
We are excited to announce that The Family Academy is partnering with the Southeast YMCA to launch "The Family Academy School," an initiative that provides essential educational resources for both parents/caregivers and children. Parents/caregivers will have the opportunity to attend workshops designed to equip them with tools for supporting their children’s academic success.
While parents participate in these valuable workshops, their children (K-5th grade) will receive focused tutoring in literacy. This program allows families to grow and learn together.
Note: AT THIS TIME, WE ONLY HAVE SOME SPACE AVAILABLE FOR KINDERGARTEN.
Snacks Needed
Please consider donating snacks to Student Support Services for students who do not have or bring snacks. Items could include: granola bars, small popcorn bags, multi-grain bars, small pretzel bags, small cheese cracker bags. (Allergy Alert - No peanuts, please) Donations can be left at the front office. Thank you!
WCPSS PreK Online Application Now Available
Families of children who will be 4 years old by Aug. 31, 2025 are eligible to apply. Families can submit one application to determine their eligibility for one of three different services: WCPSS Title I Pre-K, NC Pre-K or Telamon Head Start.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is an after school program like no other! Twice per week for 10 weeks, girls will have fun, make friends, increase their physical activity levels, and learn important life skills. Trained and caring coaches lead 3rd-5th grade girls through interactive lessons and movement activities. The season ends with a celebratory 5K event.
This year’s program is still seeking coaches among our parents and teachers. The student participation fee is waived for parents who serve.
