Mustang Families,

 

We have several items in this week’s News that have deadlines approaching, so please read through to the end.

 

Mid-Quarter Progress Reports: We are now at the midpoint of the 2nd quarter and families are encouraged to check PowerSchool to determine where students stand academically, halfway through the quarter. Reach out to teachers or counselors if you have questions or would like to schedule conferences.

 

Orchestra Concert: Please join the Martin Orchestra Department as they take the stage on Thursday, December 12th at 7pm for their winter concert. The students have worked hard all fall in preparation for what will be a wonderful show!

 

Congratulations: Congratulations to the members of the Chorus Department on a fantastic concert! You can also see some of our students perform at the NC Capitol Rotunda on Friday this week.

 

Debate Club Members: The Debate Club will meet this Thursday, December 12th, from 2:15 to 4:00 PM in Ms. Snider's room. If your child plans on depending on the debate tournament on March 15th, they must turn in their parent letter by this meeting.

 

8th Grade Families: The Early College application window ends on December 12th. Students interested in attending one of our Early Colleges must have a completed application submitted by the 12th. Apply online wcpss.schoolmint.com.

 

 

Martin Family Coffee: Thank you to those who were able to join the virtual Coffee on Friday. We will work to have the presentation posted to our website this week and included in next week’s Mustang News.

 

Rising 9th Grade Summer Opportunity: Students who will be in 9th grade next year and have a documented disability, IEP or 504 are invited to attend the virtual NCSU Catalyst Open House on January 16 (7-8pm) or January 18 (10-11am) to learn more about next year’s STEM program. Updates From the PTA: 

Holiday Treats for Teachers & Staff

The PTA will be sponsoring a cookie giveaway for teachers and staff on Wednesday, December 18th. We need lots of volunteers to send in homemade or store-bought cookies/treats. Teachers will then have the opportunity to fill a box with the assorted treats to take home and share with their families. Volunteers Needed for Concessions

The PTA is looking for volunteers to help with our concession stand during girls and boys home basketball games.  Please sign up if interested.  We cannot run concessions without wonderful parent volunteers.  Martin Middle PTA: Martin Basketball Concessions (signupgenius.com)

 

Join the Mustang Madness Planning Committee!

This fun and exciting community event highlighting Martin's arts and athletics programs will be Friday, Feb. 28th (6-8pm). If you are interested in joining our planning committee, please reach out to Erin Capps (president@martinpta.com). This is a great way to get involved and meet other Martin parents.

AIG Nominations: The window for AIG nominations is now open. Families wishing to have their students considered for academically gifted identification must complete the nomination form. Contact Ms. Bonham West (rwest2@wcpss.net) with questions. Spring 2025 Gifted Nomination Form

AMC 8: The MAA’s American Mathematics Competitions 8 registration is open through January 8th. This competition supports developing students’ analytical and problem-solving skills. Students must register via their WCPSS Google account. AMC 8 Registration Form

Mustang Sports On The Ranch This Week:

All games/matches begin at 4pm, unless otherwise noted. Tickets can be purchased in advance at GoFan or at the gate for $6. Please note: we will not accept bills larger than $20 at the gate.
