As a reminder, Martin is closed on Monday for Veterans Day. Thank you to all those who served or are currently serving in the military.
Report Cards: Students received report cards on Friday. If you have not seen your student’s report card, please ask them for it.
Teachers of the Year: Last week, we recognized our Diane Kent Parker 1st Year Teacher of the Year and our Teacher of the Year for the 2024-25 school Year at our pep rally. Both will represent Martin at the WCPSS Teacher of the Year celebration. Congratulations to DKP 1st Year Teacher of the Year Ms. Leaha Burgess and Teacher of the Year Mr. Adam Chu.
Pep Rally: We held our first pep rally in over 6 years on Wednesday as the Martin community met the PTA No Fuss fundraiser goal this year. We had a great time celebrating fall athletics, FFA national competitors and national vocalists. Martin band, dance and cheer all performed for the student body.
Congratulations: Congratulations to our Martin volleyball team who finished the season undefeated (7-0), winning the conference championship! We are proud of all the players, managers and coaches!
WRAL Teacher of the Week: Our very own Mr. Ben McDonald was featured as the WRAL Teacher of the Week on Wednesday, November 6th. Mr. McDonald was nominated for this recognition by a Martin student! Here is the link to the video.
American Indian Heritage Month: November is American Indian Heritage Month and an opportunity to honor and celebrate the history and heritage of the American Indian people in our state and across the country.
National Homeless Youth Awareness Month: November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. We invite all students and teachers to wear PURPLE on Friday, November 15th, to show solidarity and support for homeless youth in our community. If you have questions regarding supports for students or families struggling with housing needs, please contact Martin's social worker, Teresa Barnes (tfbarnes@wcpss.net), at 919-881-4970 ext.27418.
Say Something: All students will participate in the WCPSS Say Something Anonymous Reporting System student training on Friday, November 15th. For more information: Say Something
School Psychology Awareness Week: This week marks School Psychology Awareness Week and Martin is lucky to have Dr. Kristen Lewis as our school psychologist. She supports our students, their families, and our staff through her work with our Special Education and Counseling and Student Services departments.
Art Contest: The 2025 North Carolina Aviation Art Contest is open with entries due by January 17, 2025. This year’s theme is “Women with Wings.” Details about age groups, contest rules and prizes can be found on the NCDOT Aviation Art Contest website.
6th Grade Students: The Martin Student Council is looking for 6th Grade Student Leaders to represent your team on the Student Council. Those interested should email campaign videos to Ms. Snider (asnider@wcpss.net) before November 14th. Videos should:

Elections will be Nov. 21 and 22 and each team will elect 2 representatives.
Winter Sports: Winter sports tryouts are right around the corner. All 7th and 8th grade students interested in trying out for boys’ and girls’ basketball should take note of the following:

Winter Tryouts: Boys Basketball-Nov. 18th and 19th from 2:30-4:00; Girls Basketball Tryouts-Nov. 20th and 21st from 2:30-4:00: Cheer Tryouts-Nov. 18th from 2:30-4:00.

The last day to sign up is Nov. 14th and students MUST have a 100% completed Dragonfly account to try out.

Yearbook: The yearbook staff is working hard on creating this year's book, but we could use fall pictures (outdoor fall festivals, sporting events, other school activities, etc.)! Mustang Sports This Week:
All games/matches begin at 4pm, unless otherwise noted. Tickets can be purchased in advance at GoFan or at the gate for $6. Please note: we will not accept bills larger than $20 at the gate. Students should have rides on campus no later than 5:30.
