Good evening Mustang Families. We hope you are having a wonderful weekend. As a reminder, Martin and all Wake County Schools will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

 

Congratulations: Zoe Burill has been invited to participate in the 2024 Writers Share on Friday, May 31st, hosted by the United Arts, Wake County. Writers Share is at John Chavis Memorial Park, beginning at 6:30. Congratulations to Zoe!

 

FCCLA: Ms. Bradley is working with a student to launch a chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at Martin for 2024-25 and is seeking student interest. Interested students are asked to complete a very brief interest form. More information about FCCLA can be found here.

 

Under the Stars: The 8th Grade Dance is this Friday from 6:30-8:30. All students are to be picked up at 8:30 in the carpool line on Horton Street. Please see the linked permission form with all the needed information about the dance.

 

8th Grade End of Year Celebration: The 8th Grade team is planning a full day of celebration for students on June 12th. All families are invited to campus at noon for an afternoon of activities and community. Please see the linked letter for more details

 

Library Books: All library books are due to the Media Center by Tuesday, May 28th. Students who have lost books should see Ms. Carr.

 

EOG/EOC Information Reminders: The schedule of EOGs and EOCs can be found on the MMS website calendar. 

Parents are an important part of helping your student prepare for the end-of-year tests like the EOGs and EOCs every year. We've prepared a tip sheet in English and Spanish of ways you can support your student and MMS as we start EOGs on May 30. The tip sheets can be found below: 

 

Missing Assessment/Assignments: The last day to submit missing assessments and assignments is June 3rd. Students are encouraged to check with teachers as well as on Canvas and PowerSchool for work that needs to be submitted.

 

SUN Bucks: SUN Bucks is a program intended to provide grocery-buying benefits to children who lose access to Free- or Reduced-Price (FRP) school meals when school is out during the summer months. For more information and how to apply, visit SUNBucks

 

Attention Artists: Raleigh students enrolled in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the Micromobility Program’s first Spring Art Contest hosted by the City of Raleigh. Contest entries will be accepted now through Friday, May 31st. You can find comprehensive details about the contest by visiting the following link: https://raleighnc.gov/transportation/news/micromobility-art-contest. It is a great chance to have your artwork displayed in the downtown Raleigh area!

 

Clubs on Campus: There are no clubs on campus this week.

 

Athletics: Rising 9th Graders: Fall sports begin in early August in high school and you must have current sports physicals and other documents uploaded to Dragonfly prior to the 1st practice.

Volunteers Needed: Ms. Frye is seeking volunteers to help teach yoga to her students on June 5th, 6th, 7th or 10th from 8:45-11:05. If you are a yoga instructor and have any time you could donate, please contact Ms. Frye (mfrye@wcpss.net).
