Good evening Mustang Families. We hope you are having a wonderful weekend and may have been fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights. We would also like to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all our Martin moms and mother figures.

 

Thank You: On behalf of the entire Martin staff, I would like to thank the PTA and all the Martin families for a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week. We are thankful for the daily treats and meals and the spaces that were given a sprucing.

 

Interim Reports: We have reached the midpoint of the final quarter and a good time for families to check progress in each class. Families are asked to check PowerSchool for updated grades this week.

 

National Speech Pathologist Day: National Speech Pathologist Day is May 17.  Ms. Yellock is Martin’s SLP and we truly appreciate all she does to support our students! 

 

Spring Concerts: We close out our Spring Concert Season this week with the Martin Department taking the stage for its concert on Thursday, May 16th. The concert begins at 7pm in the auditorium.

 

Dogs on Campus: We ask that families leave their four-legged friends at home during athletic events. We want to ensure a safe environment for all our athletes and spectators. As always, service dogs are welcome at all events.

 

Attention 8th Graders: Eighth graders attending Broughton High School who are interested in playing football are encouraged to review the linked information about the program and summer workouts.

 

Attention Artists: Raleigh students enrolled in grades K-12 are invited to participate in the Micromobility Program’s first Spring Art Contest hosted by the City of Raleigh. Contest entries will be accepted from Monday, May 13th  to Friday, May 31st. It is a great chance to have your artwork displayed in the downtown Raleigh area!

 

Artsplosure: Congratulations to Ms. Bennett, Ms. Hagler and seven of our students who were selected to participate in Artsplosure, Raleigh’s premiere arts festival. This year’s juried show is May 14th -19th in downtown Raleigh with a reception on May 18th. Congratulations to:

Debate Club: Debate club will meet this Thursday, May 16th in Ms. Snider's room from 2:15-4:00pm.  If your child plans to participate in the debate tournament on May 23rd please make sure they bring their signed permission form to this meeting.

 

Builders Club: The Builders Club induction ceremony is Tuesday, May 14th in the media center. The ceremony will recognize the students who have actively participated in the Kiwanis Martin Builders Club and to induct the officers for the 2024/2025 school year. For more details: Builders Club

 

FFA News: FFA Banquet Celebration: Families of FFA Members are invited to our annual FFA Banquet Celebration on Monday, May 20th at 5:30 PM in the Martin Cafeteria. The FFA Banquet will celebrate our year as a FFA Chapter and highlight all the accomplishments our members have achieved. EOG/EOC Information Reminders: As we move closer to the EOGs/EOCs, we will include reminders in our Mustang News to help prepare students for testing days. This week’s reminder is about phones, earbuds and smartwatches. These items are not allowed in the testing setting. Any student with any of these items on their person at testing will be required to retest. Students who require headphones for testing will be provided headphones. Cell phones must be powered down and placed in bookbags during testing. Students are asked to leave smartwatches at home during testing.

  • Family Guide to Assessment (en Espanol)- This guide discusses why assessments are important, provides an overview of the different assessments that students take, and reviews questions families can ask teachers about assessments. Finally, the guide looks at how North Carolina ensures assessments are fair and accessible for all students. 

 

Parent and Family Content Support Guides

These parent guides explain the content in straightforward terms so they can support their children’s learning at home and will encourage caretaker engagement with lessons.

 

 

Student Survey: All students will take a Student Survey over the next couple weeks to share feedback on their experience at Martin. For more information about the survey: Student Survey.

 

Parent Survey: The Family Survey closes on May 17th, giving you just a couple more days to provide us feedback. Please consider completing the Family Survey.

Athletics this Week: All games and meets begin at 4pm unless otherwise noted. Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://gofan.co/app/school/NC67640 or at the gate for $6.

All student spectators are to be picked up promptly at the conclusion of each sporting event.
