April 28, 2024 Mustang News

Good evening Mustang Families. We hope you are having a wonderful weekend! As a reminder, Martin is closed to students on Monday, April 29th, for a Staff Workday. We will reopen to students on Tuesday, April 30th.

Missing Work: All missing assignments and assessments are due on May 8th for the first half of the quarter. This will allow teachers the opportunity to evaluate and update grades prior to the midpoint of the quarter the following week. Please check Canvas and PowerSchool for any assignments or assessments that are missing. Students should also check in with teachers if they have questions.

World Language Exams: Students enrolled in the High School Credit level of Spanish, French and German will begin their exams on May 20th. Please contact the World Language Teachers for more information.

2nd Step: All students will engage in a Second Step lesson on Thursday during Corral. The lesson topics and conversation starters for each grade are:

6th Grade: Why Conflicts Escalate - Students identify behaviors that can cause conflicts to escalate, so they keep them from becoming more serious.

Conversation Starter – Tell your student about a time when you played a part in escalating a conflict. Explain what you wished you had done instead. Ask if they are part of a conflict right now that they need help with.

7th Grade: Conflicts and Perspectives - Students will learn how to listen to and consider someone else’s perspective during a conflict.

Conversation Starter – Share a time in your life when your view of a conflict changed because you were able to see it from another person’s perspective. Ask if they have changed their view about a conflict lately.

8th Grade: Values and Relationships - Students will draw connections between their values and the healthy relationships in their life.

Conversation Starter – Ask about how one of their values shows up in a healthy relationship they have. This could be a friendship, a sibling or other familial relationship, or even a professional relationship with a teacher or coach.

EOG/EOC Remediation and Readministration Program: All students will take the EOG/EOC State Test at the end of the school year. Should students meet the criteria for our EOG/EOC Remediation and Readministration program, you will receive an invitation for your student to attend the program after the testing window closes on June 12th. For planning purposes, the program dates for the end of the school year are June 13th and 14th. Transportation will be provided, and breakfast and lunch will be available.

EOG/EOC Volunteers Needed: Can you help supervise restrooms and hallways during the EOGs and EOCs? This position is easy, but essential. The only requirements are to whisper when speaking and not talk to students about the tests. If you're able to help, please go here and sign up. Thank you in advance for volunteering!
