March 5, 2023 Mustang News
Happy Sunday, Mustang Families. This is a little bit of an odd week with Tuesday as a Workday for staff. The building will be closed for students.
Severe Weather Drill: We will participate in the statewide Tornado Drill on Wednesday, March 8th.
NCPTA Reflections: Congratulations to Emmy Dickey who placed 2nd in the NCPTA Reflections contest for her dance choreography! Emmy had previously been awarded 1st place in Wake County, sending her work on to be judged alongside submissions from across the state. Way to go Emmy!
March Family Coffee: Our Family Coffee will have a bit of a different structure this month as we are partnering with the Poe Center for a presentation and discussion on vaping scheduled for March 21st. Details about time and meet links will be shared soon.
Fine and Performing Arts: Congratulations to Jazz Band, Gifts of Gold and Pieces of Gold artists and performers who were part of the 40th WCPSS Pieces of Gold Arts Showcase last week. Our Honors Chorus will also perform at NC Department of Public Instruction this week where they will highlight the positive impact of Arts Education on students.
FFA: The Martin FFA Quiz Bowl and Exploring Biotechnology Teams will compete in the Middle Grades Rally on Friday. Best of luck to both teams!
BIMAS: All students should have brought home on Friday an “Opt-Out” form for the Spring BIMAS screener. The screener will be completed by your student’s teacher to help us gauge the overall wellness of our school and if students may need additional supports and interventions. Opt-Out forms should be returned only if you do not want a screener to be completed for your student and should be returned by March 10th.
Debate Club: Debate Club members should mark their calendars for the next meeting, Thursday, March 9th, from 3-4, in Ms. Snider’s room. Contact Ms. Snider, asnider@wcpss.net, for more details.
8th Grade Families: Ms. Rowell will work with students through math classes to support students in course selection for high school. She is scheduled to be in Ms. Bradley’s class on March 8th, Ms. Bricker’s class on March 10th and Mr. Inglis’ class on March 13th. As a reminder, the registration window is open through March 24th.
From the PTA:
Mustang Madness: Mustang Madness is right around the corner (March 13-17) and we have a week of fun and excitement in store for all our students! The event culminates on Friday, March 17th, in the Martin Gym and auditorium with a variety of student performances, staff vs students competitions, art display and sale, raffles, prizes and more! If you or someone you know can donate a good, service or experience, email us at silentauction@martinpta.com
