Happy Sunday, Mustang Families. As a reminder, there is no school on Monday as we are closed for Presidents' Day. We will be back on The Ranch on Tuesday.
Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist: Ms. Aqqad was named as a semi-finalist for WCPSS Teacher of the Year! Ms. Aqqad is one of 20 teachers who have been selected based upon a rigorous evaluation of the portfolio submitted. She will be observed and interviewed by members of the Teacher of the Year committee in the coming weeks. We are so excited for Ms. Aqqad and already know that she is the best of the best!
Family Coffee: We loved seeing all the families at our Martin Family Coffee on Friday morning. The counseling team shared a great deal of information regarding course registration for 2023-24. The presentation is linked to our school website under “Mustang News” and can be found here. The counselors will also share the presentation along with an FAQ. Please reach out to your grade level counselor if you have any questions regarding course registration for your student.
Ms. Hafferty: We would like to welcome Ms. Hafferty to the Martin community as our receptionist. Many of you may have met her either in person or over the phone last week as she started on Wednesday. We are excited to have her support the front office and our entire school.
Congratulations: Mr. Beko, Mr. Pileggi and the Science Olympiad Team competed this weekend in the Durham Regional Science Olympiad Competition and took 2nd Place! The team will move on to the State Science Olympiad Competition. Congratulations to the coaches and following team members:

Art Club: Art Club meets on Tuesday from 2:20-4pm in the art rooms. Members are reminded to have their rides pick them up in the bus loop parking lot near the art patio at 4pm.
Debate Club: Debate Club members should mark their calendars for the next meeting, Thursday, March 9th, from 3-4, in Ms. Snider’s room. Contact Ms. Snider, asnider@wcpss.net, for more details.
Missing Work: Students are reminded that all missing work for the first part of the quarter is due this Wednesday to allow teachers time to assess and include the assignments and assessments in PowerSchools prior to the midpoint of the quarter. Please communicate with your teachers about any work you are submitting.
8th Grade Families: All 8th grade students will participate in registration meetings with Ms. Rowell through their science classes this week and next.
