October 30, 2022 Mustang News

Good evening Mustang families. Thank you to the families who joined me on Friday at the Family Coffee. Our November Coffee will be on November 18th. Additionally, our CASS department will host a virtual family event on November 16th at 6pm. More information about both will be coming in future weekly messages.

It is hard to believe but the 1st Quarter ends on Thursday and Friday is a workday. For your planning purposes, November 8th, Election Day, was also made a workday, November 10th is an early dismissal day (12:15) and November 11th is Veterans Day.

School Picture Makeup Day: Picture makeup day is on Wednesday this week. All students who have enrolled since or were absent on September 22nd will have their pictures taken. Additionally, any student who is returning a full, paid for picture packet or has a note from a parent requesting a retake can have their pictures taken. Pictures will be in the auditorium. To order online, visit Lifetouch and search “Find My Picture Day” on the right side of the page. Order forms are also available at school.

Yearbook: The yearbook staff is looking for Halloween/Haunted House pictures and State Fair pictures. Please include student name(s) and grade level(s). Email pictures to tbricker@wcpss.net.

Art Club: Art Club meets on Tuesday from 2:20 – 4pm. Rides should pick up in the bus loop.

8th grade Families: Broughton High School invites prospective families to join us for an Open House from 5:30-7:30pm on Tuesday, November 15th! The event will include Broughton introductory sessions at 5:30, 6:00, and 6:30 as well as an IB Diploma Programme session at 7:00. Families will also be able to take self- or student-guided tours, view our historic building, and meet many Broughton students, parents, and faculty. There is no pre-registration required for this Open House.

Boys’ tryouts will be Nov. 17th & 18th from 2:30-4pm and girls’ tryouts will be Nov. 21st & 22nd. All students must have their Dragonfly account 100% complete by Nov. 16th to attend tryouts.  Please contact Coach Basaldu with any questions.

Reminder that e-tickets for home and away games can be found on the Martin Athletic website under the Martin HQ tab

Military Connected Families: To ensure that the unique needs of military-connected students are met, state law requires that schools collect information on military-connected students. The goal is to help accommodate these students by providing them with support and consistency when their parents are deployed, transitioning between schools, and at other pivotal times during their academic careers.

If you are a Military Connected Family, please:

  • Download the linked fillable form
  • Complete 1 form for each child
  • Return the form to Ms. Sepulveda, esepulveda@wcpss.net

The deadline to submit this form is November 11, 2022. A hard copy can also be returned to the school.

From the PTA: We would like to thank all the families who have donated to our All Fun No Fuss Fall Fundraiser. We have raised 92% of our $32,000 goal. The online donation site is open for a few more hours so if you did not get a chance to donate before, there is still time! Donating is easy – just click here to donate!

Congratulations to the 6th grade who filled the Penny Wars jars to the brim! They tallied a whopping 60,464 points to win the grade level competition!

Thank you, Mustangs, and have a wonderful week. And for those who will Trick-or-Treat on Monday, be safe and have fun!
