Week Of May 8, 2023
Hello Carver Families!
I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend! I would like to thank our PTA for an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week! We are very thankful for the love and support you showed all last week. The daily lunches and treats were so appreciated. Thank you to our families for the daily showering of love and appreciation our teachers received last week from our Carver Cubs. It was truly a great week! To top it off, we had Field Day on Friday! Mr. Strickland, the Specialist Team, and parent volunteers did an incredible job of organizing this event so that our Carver Cubs could enjoy themselves in a positive and safe environment. And let's not forget about that outstanding musical performance from our K/1 Carver Cubs. Ms. Boykin did it again! What an entertaining show. Kudos!

Recently, we have noticed an increase in students being checked out of school early. Students and teachers are continuing to work through the curriculum and are beginning to prepare for end of grade tests. At Carver, instruction does not stop until dismissal starts at 3:45pm. Although we understand that early check outs are unavoidable at times, please do your best to leave your child in school for the entirety of the instructional day when possible.
Social Emotional Learning at Carver Daily/Second Step:
Second Step® Elementary is a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve children’s social-emotional skills. For the remainder of the school year, students will review the four Second Step topics presented throughout the school year. During SEL time this week, students will review social emotional learning concepts through stories and activities.
Let’s continue to make it a “Breakthrough” year! If you have questions or need support, please do not hesitate to contact me or Ms. Crouse, Assistant Principal by calling the school or sending an email: wcmerritt@wcpss.net, acrouse@wcpss.net.
Thank you,
