Here is an overview of events for October 7 - 11:

SPOTLIGHT

 

Relief Drive: Morrisville student leaders have launched a relief drive to organize supplies for families in Western NC devastated by Hurricane Helene.  Supplies will be collected between October 2 – 9.  Donations can be placed in the front lobby during the school day or on the red picnic tables after school hours.  For details about the supplies most needed visit Hurricane Relief Drive

 

Bullying Prevention Month: Listed below are special days that will occur at school.

GIRL SCOUTS:  The North Carolina Coastal Pines Council will hold an interest meeting for families who would like to consider joining the Girl Scouts.  The meeting will be Wednesday, October 9, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria.

CLOTHING DRIVE: Morrisville Elementary School is hosting a U.S.S.S. clothing drive for underwear, socks, sweatpants, and shorts from Thursday, October 17 - Wednesday, October 23. Please see the flyer below for details and instructions. Thank you for supporting MES!

MOVIE NIGHT:  The Morrisville PTA is excited to host a Movie Night for families on Friday, October 25 with a special viewing of the animated film, The Book of Life.  Food trucks and concessions will be available at 6:15 PM.  The movie will begin at 7:00 PM. 

 

HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH:  Join us in honoring Hispanic culture through student performances showcasing the rich traditions and stories of the Hispanic community. This event will be held at Millbrook High School, Saturday, October 26, 1 PM – 4 PM.

 

DISABILITY AWARENESS:  October is Disability History & Awareness Month.  This year’s theme is “Unity in Diversity.”  Morrisville Elementary is committed to supporting Disability History & Awareness Month in our school community.

 

 


REMINDERS 

 

FIELD TRIPS: WCPSS now uses School Cash Online for field trip payments.  Register at http://wcpss.schoolcashonline.com  to pay online.  Online payments are the safest, easiest, and most convenient method of payment for upcoming field trips.  Follow the steps to register at School Cash Online Parent Instructions

 

SPELLING BEE: Attention Grades 1-5! Our annual MES School-wide Spelling Bee is scheduled for Monday, December 9th.  Be on the watch for more information in the weeks to come.

ANGEL ACCOUNT:  Help a student in need!  Donate to the Districtwide Angel Fund to help students who don't have enough money to purchase their school meals using this form.  Learn more at wcpss.net/angelfund.

 

STATE FAIR:  The State Fair is October 17 – 27.  Purchase advance tickets online at ncstatefair.org and support the school. Simply enter 504 under “Membership” at check-out on the “Tools for Schools” link.  For every Adult and Child FastTrack Gate Admission Ticket purchased online using the Morrisville Elementary school code (504) before October 17, the State Fair will donate to our school.

TARDIES:  Families, if you arrive late to school after 9:15 AM please park and come to the front door with your child so you can sign them in to school tardy.  We need an adult present to sign the student in.

 

ABSENCES:  If your child is absent from school, be sure to send a written note to your child’s teacher when they return.  Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy!
