Principal's Message - August 23, 2024

 

Hi Families,

 

We are looking forward to another great week at school.  Student Clubs are starting for the 2024-2025 school year.  For information visit MES Clubs

 

Several art contests have started. We are now collecting entries for the contest to design the School Yearbook.  

 

Additionally, the PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting entries.  The theme for this year is Accepting Imperfection.  The Reflections Contest is a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their original artwork, photos, writing, and fine arts skills. ANTICIPATED DELAYS

 

Bus routes may be altered or delayed next week when traditional calendar students return to school Tuesday, August 27th.  The “Here Comes the Bus” app may not work consistently next week as these new traditional routes are added.  Please continue to be at your bus stop 10 minutes before the posted time to ensure your child does not miss the bus. 

 

You can check our live bus departure times every afternoon at this link on our Morrisville Elementary website so that you will know when your child’s bus has left our campus.  If you have any additional transportation questions, please contact our assistant principal, April Thomas, at athomas7@wcpss.net. 

 

CROSSING GUARD

 

Ms. Greta Graham, one of our school crossing guards, will be leaving at the end of next week.  Families and students are encouraged to share their thanks and appreciation with Ms. Graham throughout next week.  Greta is a former MES parent who has served as a crossing guard for the school for over 12 years helping students and families across Morrisville Parkway. We are thankful for her dedication to keep everyone safe.  We wish her all the best in the future!

 

 

PARENT EDUCATION NIGHT

 

Morrisville will host a Parent Education Night for families on Tracks 3 & 4 Thursday, September 5, from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM.  Click on the RSVP link below to reserve a seat and resources for this event.  We will offer two sessions during this evening to accommodate families with multiple children.  This event will provide families with hands-on resources and strategies to support student literacy.

VOLUNTEERS

 

As classes prepare for fall field trips, parents who were approved to volunteer last year should be sure to complete their volunteer reactivation by the Oct 1 deadline.  Families and individuals who were approved to volunteer during the 2023-24 school year received an email on July 1 outlining the quick and easy volunteer renewal process for the 2024-25 school year.  Families can visit Volunteering in WCPSS to learn more about volunteer renewal or apply to be a first-time volunteer.

 

SCHOOL INFORMATION

 

Carpool:  Parents, help us make carpool safer.  Please have your child unload from the passenger side of your vehicle.  You may need to slide your passenger side front seat up so your child can enter or exit from the passenger side.

Late Arrivals:  Families, if you are arriving late to school after 9:15 AM please park and come to the front door with your child so you can sign them in to school tardy.  We need an adult present to sign the student in.

 

Attendance:  If your child is absent from school, be sure to send a written note to your child’s teacher when they return.  Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe and healthy!
