August 22nd Mustang News
Good evening Mustangs. This is Marla Mondora, principal of Martin GT Magnet Middle School, with our weekly message. As a reminder, each Sunday at 5pm, I send a message via email and text. This message is being sent 3 ways, text, email and phone. If you did not receive this message 3 ways, log in to https://www.wcpss.net/schoolmessenger to update your communication preferences. Additionally, please make certain your correct email, phone and cell numbers are on file at school. Contact esepulveda@wcpss.net or kfrechette@wcpss.net if you need to update your contact information. I will send a weekly message 3 ways next week as well. Starting Sunday, September 5th, the message will only be sent via email and text.
All students are reminded to set their alarms for tomorrow morning, the first day of school! Student can arrive on campus as early as 7am and are expected to be in 1st period by 7:30. Students wishing to eat breakfast will go to the cafeteria upon arrival for breakfast then report to 1st period. All other students will report directly to 1st period. Staff will be on duty to help students find their 1st period classes if they do not know who their 1st period teachers are.
Carpool Reminders:
For families who are coming through carpool, please enter and exit the carpool line from Horton Street, making right hand turns both into and out of the parking lot. This will help keep the flow of traffic moving. We encourage families to arrive close to 7am to allow your students ample time to get to class and get settled. The later you wait, the longer the line gets and the more rushed your student feels. Please do not let your student out on Horton Street or ask him or her to cross traffic on Horton or in the carpool line. In the afternoon, students will be waiting outside, under the breezeway for their rides. Remind them to be “on the lookout”.
Bus Reminders:
Families who are accessing school transportation are reminded to check Homebase for assigned bus stops and times. You can find a list of Martin Bus Routes and Stops here and daily route updates here. Students should be at their stops a little early tomorrow morning to be certain not to miss their bus. Routes may run a little slower on the first few days as students learn their stops.
Health and Safety Reminders:
All students are required to properly wear a face mask while in the building, except while actively eating/drinking, and on school transportation. Masks are to cover your nose, mouth and chin. Students are encouraged to have a spare face mask with them each day that should be kept in a resealable bag to allow a change in masks if needed. Students are also encouraged to have water bottles to use at the water fountains as they will only be used as “refilling stations”. Frequent hand washing and sanitizing is encouraged throughout the day. We do ask that you keep your student home if they have been exposed to or tested positive for COVID19, are experiencing any symptoms of COVID19 or are not feeling well.
