Mustang News for August 30, 2020

It was wonderful to see all of the families that came to Martin to pick up supplies and materials! The school just has a different hum to it when the students are on campus. If you did not pick up materials last week, please come by Martin between 7:30am and 3:00pm Monday through Wednesday. Students will need their math and ELA workbooks and novel for this quarter this week. Once at Martin, ring the doorbell and provide your student’s name and grade. We will gather materials and bring them to you.

Monday begins our first day of a full schedule of classes. The bell schedule can be found on our website and is linked in this document. As a reminder, school begins each day at 7:30am. Students will have four core classes, three electives, lunch and an exploratory enrichment time. The enrichment time is a time for students to get extra help, complete homework, engage in extension activities, work in Dreambox, complete a passion project, take a mental or movement break. Teachers will also invite students to meetings for support as needed. 6th grade enrichment is 4th period, 7th grade is 5th period and 8th grade is 6th period. A choice board can be found on teacher websites.

Tomorrow will be a long day for students. We encourage our Mustangs to set their alarms,  go to bed early, get a good night’s rest, and eat something for breakfast. While there will be breaks in the day, we will have a full day of learning!

Students are encouraged to communicate regularly with their teachers through Google Classroom and using their WCPSS email address. This also means that students will need to login to Google Classrooms and check their WCPSS email on a daily basis. If you need assistance, please contact the school. We are all happy to help.

As a reminder, all 7th grade students are required to have a TDAP Booster as well as the Meningococcal Vaccine and Martin is required to have a copy of the vaccination on file. The 30 day grace period for the required immunizations has been extended by Governor Cooper due to COVID-19 and begins on October 1. Please send a copy of the proof of vaccine to Ms. Sepulveda at esepulveda@wcpss.net.
