Mustang News for August 23, 2020
Good Afternoon Mustang Families,
Thank you for a wonderful first week of school. We have loved reconnecting with students, seeing their faces, hearing their voices, and feeling their energy! We will finish our two week orientation this week and all students will have met with each of their teachers at least twice, as well as the counselors and administrators.
Each grade level will have a materials and supplies pick up day this week. The dates and times are as follows:
8th grade - Tuesday from 8am-10am
7th grade - Wednesday from 8am-10am
6th grade - Friday from 8am-10am
For those who cannot come during the grade level time, you can come on Friday from 12pm-4pm.
We ask all families to enter the carpool line following normal carpool procedures. For those new to the family, all carpool students enter on Horton Street and loop around the front of the building and back down the side, exiting, again, on Horton Street. Students will pick up school materials, student agendas, parent/student handbooks, already purchased PTA Spirit Wear and yearbooks that were not picked up in the spring. You may also drop off ELA novels and library books that were not returned in the spring. We will even accept books from elementary school!
We will hold an SSA and AIG Parent Information session on Thursday, August 27th at 10:30 am.
The meet code for the session is:

Parents will need to be signed in to their student's WakeID to access the session. We apologize for the inconvenience, but the county asks us to take this security measure. If you have specific questions, please put them in this google form: https://forms.gle/bE49WaT9FvAQ4QXx8.
As a reminder, all students will log into their homeroom teacher’s classroom and google meet on Monday and every day this week. The daily orientation schedule is on our website. If, Monday morning, your student is unsure where to go, please have him or her contact the grade level administrator or counselor for assistance. As a reminder, all students are required to work through their WakeID Portal and use their WCPSS email address to communicate with teachers, counselors and administrators.
WCPSS Technology Services Department is preparing devices for all students who requested a device through the Technology Survey that was conducted in July. Leesville Road High, Knightdale High, South Garner High, Apex High and Enloe High will serve as distribution sites and families will be able to go to the site that is most convenient. Technology services will notify those who requested a chromebook or hotspot in the coming days to let you know the devices requested are available. Please do not go to a distribution site before your designated day as the devices will not be available.
We will host our first Parent Coffee on Monday at 8am and 4pm. We will discuss in greater detail the learning and teaching schedule starting August 31st. The meeting codes are:

As a reminder, all 7th grade students are required to have a TDAP Booster as well as the Meningococcal Vaccine and Martin is required to have a copy of the vaccination on file. The 30 day grace period for the required immunizations has been extended by Governor Cooper due to COVID-19 and begins on October 1. Please send a copy of the proof of vaccine to Ms. Sepulveda at esepulveda@wcpss.net.
