June 14th Mustang News
It is hard to believe the 2019-2020 school year has come to an end. This has been one for the record books for sure! On behalf of the entire Martin staff, thank you for supporting the school and our students. Thank you for allowing us to work with your families. Thank you for helping make the Martin community the absolute best school community!
Several families have asked about returning Chromebooks to school. The only students who will need to return the Chromebook or Hotspot checked out to them will be those students leaving the Wake County Public School System.
Dreambox is available to students all summer to strengthen math skills and mitigate learning loss. I encourage all students to spend some time each week working in Dreambox.
As a reminder, we will begin school on August 17th. This is a week earlier than normal. Please mark your family calendars.
Our WCPSS Board Member, Christine Kushner, is holding a Board Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, June 17th from 4 to 6pm. This meeting is open to the public and Ms. Kushner will gather community feedback on the plans for the 2020-21 school year. The meeting code is included in the email and text message of our weekly communication.
To our 8th graders, now high school freshman, we wish you all the best in the next phase of your school career. You are well prepared and ready for the opportunities high school has to offer. We encourage you to take full advantage of high school. Get involved in clubs, athletics and after school activities. You have spent the last three years exploring and developing your many gifts and talents. Continue to nurture those gifts and talents. Take risks by trying new things and making new friends. You will not regret it.
To our now 7th and 8th graders, let us make the 2020-2021 school year one to remember. Set goals for the new year and set an example for the new Mustangs. Join a new club, reach out to others and develop new friendships. The 6th graders will look to you to see how to make the most of middle school!
Have a restful summer and we look forward to seeing you in August!
