Principal Mondora's Weekly Message

Thank you to all the parents who participated in the 8th grade Google Meet on Friday. It was nice to see all the names and faces of our families. We will continue to hold grade level meetings with parents as we move towards the end of the school year.

Our teachers and staff appreciated the kind words, emails, and gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week. We are grateful for the support of our families as we work to continue to provide meaningful learning opportunities.

I know that there are still many unanswered questions about how we will close out the school year and celebrate the accomplishments of our students, especially our 8th graders. The grade levels are working on plans for celebrations and will communicate those as we get closer to the end of the year. The administrative team is developing a plan that will allow for students to come to campus to return books and materials as well as clean out lockers. This plan will include specific details about times and social distancing protocols that we will follow. More details will come in the next few weeks.

While it is being communicated regularly, I do want to remind our students to continue to make up assignments that were due prior to school closure. Additionally, students are encouraged to engage in all instructional activities in remote learning at time and a pace that works for your individual families. Your students are receiving feedback on work. Please ask your student to share that feedback with you. If you have questions about specific assignments or classes, please reach out to the teacher.

We still have several students who have not yet registered for classes for the 2020-21 school year. If your family has not completed registration, please do so as soon as possible. If you need support in registering, please reach out to your grade level counselor.

The North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation this past week that adjusted the start of the 2020-21 school year. We will begin the year on August 17th. Pleases mark your family calendars for the earlier start date.

As shared in last week’s message, I will host a virtual Principal Coffee on Friday at 2pm. The code will not appear on our website but a reminder will be sent on Friday morning through email and text that includes the links and codes. If you have specific questions, please complete the linked form by Wednesday evening.

Finally, Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mustang Moms and to all those who fill the roles of moms in the lives of our students.
