    Three Dimensions of Student Achievement

When a student is done with school and enters adult life, they will be judged for the rest of their life not by the performance on tests of basic skills, but by the quality of their work and the quality of their character.”  Ron Berger

Our approach to teaching and learning is grounded in EL Education’s Three Dimensions of Student Achievement, ensuring every student grows academically, builds strong character, and creates meaningful, high-quality work.

    Mastery of Knowledge and Skills
Students engage in rigorous, standards-based learning that goes beyond memorization. Through hands-on projects, inquiry-based lessons, and collaborative problem-solving, our learners build deep understanding, apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, and demonstrate what they know through authentic assessments. We believe that all students can excel when given the opportunity to think critically, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learning.

    Character
We intentionally nurture students’ development as kind, compassionate, and responsible individuals. Through our CREW structure and core values, students practice empathy, perseverance, integrity, and respect—building the habits that prepare them to lead with heart. Character is not just taught - it is modeled, celebrated, and lived in every classroom and every part of our school community.

    High-Quality Student Work
Knightdale students are creators of work that is complex, meaningful, and beautiful. We guide students to revise, reflect, and push beyond “good enough” to produce work that represents their best thinking and craftsmanship. In all subject areas, our students produce work that matters to them, to their families, and to the world.

Together, these three dimensions shape a powerful learning experience where every child is seen, challenged, and celebrated!
