Ms. Dolezal

Ms. Dolezal is our Science Specialist/ESL teacher.  After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Environmental Science from Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, Ms. Dolezal enlisted in the Peace Corps.  She was stationed in a rural village (Cabrican) in the western highlands of Guatemala where she assisted local farmers in using agroforestry to prevent erosion of farmland, worked with women's groups in medicinal gardens and taught environmental education at the local elementary schools.

Upon returning to her home state of Illinois, she found that there was a great need for Spanish-speaking teachers.  This lead to a career in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) while attending courses towards her teaching degree and, subsequently, her Master's degree from Rockford College in Elementary Education with a focus on bilingual education.  After 6 years teaching ESL in Illinois, she moved to North Carolina and taught another 10 years in Wake County.  She is now the Science teacher working with 3rd - 5th graders during specials and the ESL instructor for K - 5 at Lynn Road Elementary.  Her favorite children's book is The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds.  Ms. Dolezal  has always wanted to be a teacher and as a child she would constantly ask her mother  to bring home homework, assigning herself extra math worksheets.  She loved playing soccer and volleyball and her favorite memories consist of family camping trips and the creek in her backyard.
