Welcome to Take a Hike!
If you enjoy the outdoors, talking and laughing with new friends and walking in beautiful wooded areas join this club today! Spending time in nature will increase your creativity and problem-solving skills, make you feel happier, help you to be ready for your school day, and have fun! This is a time to disconnect from technology and enjoy the great outdoors. All you need are a pair of sneakers. (A club t-shirt –see below- will also be available to purchase!)
For our walks on school grounds and the adjacent Greenway, we will meet every Wednesday before school at 7:05 a.m. starting in August. Students will need to be dropped off at the front of the school in time to meet at a designated 6th grade classroom. They will sign in and leave all belongings, including cell phones in the classroom. At least two staff members will lead students on a walk following the Greenway near Heritage Middle. We will return by 7:50.
A signed Wake County Permission form must be completed by a parent or guardian as we are going “Off- Campus” on these weekly walks. See Mrs. Snyder, Ms. Lafferty or Ms. Koennecke for a permission form.
All students must follow the WCPSS dress code, wear sneakers, and if desired, our club’s t-shirt. (This t-shirt will soon be available to order.) Students/parents will be notified in advance if a hike is cancelled through the Remind app. (See permission form.)
Please contact Mrs. Snyder at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Students of all grades/tracks are welcome to join the staff on our walks!
C'mon and "TAKE A HIKE"!
