Hello, Powell Families!
June 19, 2024
Families,
I am honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Powell Magnet Elementary School beginning July 1.
Your commitment to excellence and dedication to creating a nurturing learning environment is evident in every aspect of Powell Magnet Elementary. I am eager to work alongside each of you to continue and build upon the school's legacy of success.
As I get to know each of you, here is a little bit about me. I have had the privilege of serving in the Wake County Public School System for the last decade. Prior to my years of service, I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Education from East Carolina University and my Masters in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte. I have enjoyed teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at Bugg Magnet Elementary and serving as assistant principal at Aversboro Elementary for the past five years. In my downtime, I love exploring Raleigh’s many different art exhibits, coffee shops, restaurants, and walking trails. I often travel to visit my family on extended weekends.
As we embark on this journey together, I am wholeheartedly committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation. Every child who walks through our doors brings with them a unique set of talents, dreams, and aspirations. It is my mission to ensure that each and every one of them feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Success is not just measured by academic achievements but also by the strength of our connections within the community. I firmly believe that by working together as partners in education, we can create limitless opportunities for our students to thrive, both inside and outside the classroom. I am committed to open communication, transparency, and collaboration, and I invite you to join me in this journey of continuous growth and improvement.
In the coming weeks and months, I look forward to getting to know each of you and learning more about what makes Powell Magnet Elementary School such a special place. Together, we will celebrate our successes, overcome challenges, and continue to inspire a love of learning in every child.
Thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of leading this incredible school. I am confident that together, we will make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of our students and community.
Warm regards,
Sierra Wooden
