School Nurse Appreciation Day
May 5*
We are celebrating Nurse Appreciation Day THIS Monday, May 5th! If you see our phenomenal nurse, Ms. O'Donnell, please thank her for overseeing the care of all of our Sailors. The official date was advertised as May 6, but she will be at another school on that day.
Teacher Appreciation Week
May 5 - May 9
We are excited to celebrate our incredible teachers this week! Here are some of the ways you can help us this week if you are able to:
- MONDAY - Restock the teachers' lounge (THANK YOU! The sign-up is FULL!)
- TUESDAY - Make a card, write a note, and/or send flowers to let the teachers know that they are special
- WEDNESDAY - Do something nice for our specialists, exceptionalists, and staff
- THURSDAY - Bring an item off your teacher's supply list for their classroom
- FRIDAY - Wear your teacher's favorite color or treat them to one of their favorite things
Family Intent Form
Now, submit by May 9
For ALL FAMILIES, as we wrap up this school year, it would help us greatly if you would fill out this brief intent form. The main way this helps us is with our staffing.
This week, our students that are set to attend Pleasant Plains Elementary next year had a wonderful assembly with Principal Caggia! She showed them pictures of the school and the staff, she got them excited about being a cardinal, and let them share what will make the best school ever.
Letterland Days at Pullen Park
May 5 and May 8
Many of our students love Letterland! We are excited to share that Pullen Park will be hosting two Letterland Days this May.
- Dates: Monday, May 5 and Thursday, May 8
- Time: 5:00 - 8:00 PM
There are other things happening on other dates as well! On the dates listed above, students will get to meet Letterland characters and participate in hands-on arts and crafts, as well as literacy activities! Admission to the park is free and ride tickets are $2. Click here to view information, including a flyer, on the WCPSS website. National Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day
May 7
From our wonderful PTA- We would love all our wonderful families to join us on Wednesday, May 7th for Walk, Bike, and Roll to school day! There are lots of safe public places to park and walk from Scotts Mill Neighborhood and/or Woodall Estates. Please follow all safety precautions with helmets and rules of the road. Also, please listen to our amazing crossing guard when it is time to cross the street.
Safety is key! There will be good friends, music, and bubbles that Wednesday morning! Thanks. Mr. Evans will also have a few fun souvenirs to pass out at the event, while supplies last.
Sailor Fun Friday - Dynamic Duo Day
May 9
Our Sailor Fun Friday for the month of May is Dynamic Duo Day! We have many fun options:
- Sailors could dress like their friends and be "twins" with one or several other students.
- They can dress like a famous duo (Batman and Robin, Anna and Elsa, Bluey and Bingo).
- Get creative- a pair could wear red and yellow to be ketchup and mustard! Or a Messi jersey and a referee shirt.
