Ship Notes 03/31/2025

Hello Sailors and Families! We hope that you are having a wonderful spring break. Just a heads up, there will be no Ship Notes on Sunday, April 6.

 

Congratulations to Ms. Clark 🎉

 

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the 2025 WCPSS School Library Media Coordinator of the Year, Ms. Clark!!! Earlier this year, Ms. Clark was named the winner among all the elementary school librarians in the county. On Wednesday, March 26, she was honored at a dinner with the middle school and high school winners, and then announced as the overall winner!

 

Ms. Clark, thank you for all of the incredible programs that you facilitate in the media center, including but not limited to teaching specials, daily circulation, book buddies, and so much more. We knew you were the best! April is School Library Month, but we are thrilled to be starting our celebration early!

 

   

 

 

Chess Club Success

 

Congratulations to our Scotts Ridge Elementary Chess Team for their success at the North Carolina Scholastic K-12 Girls Championship last Saturday, March 22!

Danyaasri Thiagarajan and Harini Ummala played as a team and tied for 3rd place in their division. Individually, Danyaasri Thiagarajan tied with another student for 2nd place and Harini Ummala tied for 7th.

Our SRE Chess Program benefits from the guidance of International Master Jonathan Schroer, National Master Paul Ascolese, and other instructors. This unique coaching opportunity has not only led to Saturday's NC State Championship success, but also helps our sailors develop valuable skills such as confidence, concentration, problem-solving, and more.

 

 

Letterland Days at Pullen Park

May 5 and May 8

 

Many of our students love Letterland! We are excited to share that Pullen Park will be hosting two Letterland Days this May. 

  • Dates: Monday, May 5 and Thursday, May 8
  • Time: 5:00 - 8:00 PM

Students will get to meet Letterland characters and participate in hands-on arts and crafts, as well as literacy activities! Admission into the park is free and ride tickets are $2. Appreciation Days

 

When students return to school after spring break, we have quite a few celebrations. It will be School Library Month, to celebrate our librarian of the year, and Occupational Therapist Appreciation Month, so when you see our amazing OT, Ms. Kirkpatrick, be sure to tell her, "Thank you!"

 

Additionally, April 7-11 is National Assistant Principal Appreciation Week. Help us in thanking the best AP ever, Mrs. Griffin, for making SRE such a wonderful place!

2024-2025 Yearbook Sales

by April 15

 
The first deadline has passed, but it's not too late! The final yearbook purchase deadline is Tuesday, April 15th. Purchased yearbooks will be distributed in May 2025.
 
Please note that while school portraits are through Lifetouch, yearbooks will still be purchased through Strawbridge. Yearbooks can be purchased online only at www.strawbridge.net using the online code: YB31508.

Spring Picture Day

April 16

 

Our Spring Picture Day makeup is now Wednesday, April 16th. We still need volunteers to help the photographers and teachers and keep the day running smoothly, please join us if you are interested: Spring Picture Day Volunteer.

 

All original orders for Spring Pictures or the Class Photo made online will be credited to the new spring picture day.
 
Families, you can also send in the original order forms that were sent home. If you are in need of a new form, they can be accessed here:

 

 

Silent Auction 2024 - 2025

 
We are busy collecting donations for our 2024-2025 silent auction, which will run from April 17-24th  If you own a local business (or know someone who does), own a vacation rental, or have a contact at a local university athletic department that can assist with a donation, we would love to hear from you! All donations are tax deductible. Please send an email to silentauction@scottsridgepta.com!
